He's not the first runner to suffer a stress fracture. Do you think he did it on purpose?

Bekele said: "I have never, 100% injury-free, prepared well for a marathon."

Bekele is nearing 37 and hasn't really been healthy since 2009!
He seemed pretty healthy when he won Berlin a couple of years ago in 2:03:03 over Wilson Kipsang. But I agree that he has been injured an awful lot over the past ten years, and I'm not entirely sure why.
His last chance is to agree Coach JS to advice him. " The salvation " will be reached by relatively low mileage…...
This guy gives up when he knows he won't win. He's a dope as well. His agent encourages doping and steals athletes money.

I'm not giving up on Bekele without a fight. He is the greatest. He has more left in him. Renato Canova said only a few months ago that he is capable of 2:01:30 and after Amsterdam Jos Hermens said he is just as talented as Kipchoge. If he clears his injuries and gets someone to do his business work he will destroy everyone again.
Banana Bread, stop this hero worship of yours. Bekele retired in 2017 in case you are not aware. Jos Hermans has been trying to persuade him to unretired claiming that he will break the world record but 2:03:03 will remain Bekele's life time best. Were he to ever race again, he will not make it to the end of the marathon and if he does, he will be far off the win. The man was a machine between 2002 and 2006. That is a cool five years. He was untouchable. The victim of his prowess at the time was none other than Kipchoge. Finally Kipchoge turned the tables on him and currently on the 6th year as the new untouchable. His time at the top is also coming to an end, perhaps he still got 2 or at the most 3 years.

You seem to be overlooking that just 2.5 years ago he ran 2:03:03 in the Berlin when we all thought he was done.
Always will hold out hope that he comes back. I've just learned to not get worked up with disappointment when he DNS/DNFs.
That was 2.5 years ago. He will be 37 soon. Do you think 2.5 years old means nothing when you are past your peak? And when you have a nasty history of DNF/DNS over that time?
I love Bekele too, but the writing is on the wall. He's not going to make the 2020 Olympic Marathon team and he will silently retire before then.

That is really annoying to see. I was really looking forward to him destroying the field in Tokyo. I guess we will have to wait. Hopefully he is gets an epic marathon in before the end of the year. The Olympics are next year so hopefully he will get better as the year goes on and next year he can get Gold and hopefully get the WR. It really sucks that we won't get to see him next week.
Bannana bread is autistic. This man can’t finish a marathon (or start one apparently) yet hes going to get the WR? Autism.
I still think Bekele is the GOAT (excluding marathoning) but I am starting to lose my support for him. He simply doesn't prepare like Kipchoge prepares and that will plague him going forward.
He should probably retire and concentrate on running his hotels.
There was a sculptor. He found this stone, a special stone. He dragged it home and he worked on it for months until he finally finished it. When he was ready he showed it to his friends. They said he had created a great masterpiece, but the sculptor said he hadn't created anything. The statue was always there, he just chipped away the rough edges.
Bekele always was the greatest. He has had many rough years with injuries but he will always be the goat inside. He's always going to be tearing away at himself until he comes to terms with who he is(the goat), until he comes full circle, and gets the MF WR and Olympic Gold. He's coming for it.

Are you a troll with a registered handle or just plain stupid on the subject of elite running? Do you run? Have you a clue, even one clue about elite running? Idiot.

From what I've read over time, Banana Bread is simply a genius troll. Kind of like Jonathan Swift, back when there were no Internet message boards and people got most of their entertainment from television.
Banana Bread is most likely mo farah
Or Galen Rupp.
Bekele waits until the last moment to start training, overdoes it, then blames bad luck. He's an idiot.

What about Dubai 2017? Wasn't he in top shape for that? Wasn't that his best preparation, but he had some start issues.

Genius? Ummm...no, hardly. He's got no life and apparently his time spent on here proves it.

I didn't say that he was a well-adjusted genius. :)
