Yes, this shows he turns 20 in October 2019. So he's no longer a junior. It's not a complicated rule.

Some posters here are actually insane. When an Ethiopian runs a great time he’s doping, but when he loses to a White guy FOUR DAYS later then the White guy is clean!
How about we go back to my original hypothesis: neither are doping, Tefera is a great athlete who had a perfect race set up for him to run a fast time.
Great post. I wish we had a thumbs up as your post is so good.
Or both could be, right? ;)
Or maybe he lost on purpose?
Look Tefera very well could be on drugs but him running 331 doesn't make me nstantly scream, "Doper."

It isn't a complicated rule, some people are just dumb/trolling
Just watched the race -- well played by Jakob. On the broadcast they said Jakob had just come back from training in South Africa. Why do they go to South Africa? Seems like there's plenty of other choices closer. Does Jakob train at higher altitude?

Some here saying that Jacob will break the world junior record. Isn't Tefera's time also the World Junior Record since he is only 19?
I thought the same. Tefera definitely has the U20 record with his WR
World Junior Record wrote:
As we saw in the world Junior last year, Tefera gets confused when the pace is not fast. If he decides to follow the pacer, he will be reeled in and get outkicked.
I doubt that Tefera has made ZERO improvement in terms of race strategy over the past year. he is 3-0 in the 1500 this season with extremely good competition.

The times will not be very fast but more like 3:34.
3:34 indoors is fast as hell, what are you talking about lol
Major, major fail on 2 of your 3 highlighted points- arguably, 3/3.

it's not a world junior record if its 5 seconds slower than what a 19 year old ran last weekend
As mentioned earlier in the thread - age groups are decided by birth year and not by chronological age.
Samuel Tefera is born in 1999 and thus is not a junior.
PLEASE stop bringing facts into the conversation.

Junior doesn't mean under 20. It means earlier than the year in which one turns 20.
It's also why people who are 19 aren't eligible to compete in the world junior championship if the championship occurs in the year that he or she turns 20.
tefera is 19 bro thats under 20
Do you have some degree in logic? Really impressive.

so in your world, 3:34 indoors is slow AND teenagers have ZERO tactical growth year to year?
hahahahahahahaha wow
Was just a snooze run for Tefera. Was nice of him to let JI have some glory of his own.
Climate
Altitude (Dullstroom is at 2000 AMSL)
European time zone
Variation (going to Flagstaff all the time would be extremely boring)

exactly. a win here means absolutely nothing, he definitely didnt push it through the line. all tefera needed to do was beat the kenyan guy and he wins the indoor tour money. and he did that
Hard to believe how easy that was for Jakob. Not sure whether Filip had not done any speedwork or what, as he had fantastic 10k form already and ran a middling 7:49 3k to win easily but he was 2 seconds back here. The Ingebrigtsens did not block anyone by running wide. Instead Tefera went straight behind the two pacers and stuck there until they were done at 1k (2:24). Jakob was quite far back and eventually moved up but there was a gap to Tefera for a long way. So, Jakob was not drafting a fair amount of the race. When the time came, he waited until the end of the turn and then seemed to move past with ease. Tefera looked just as fresh as in the WR in the end, so maybe he's just like Centro in always looking like he is not working. But Tefera had a last 200m of 28ish in a 3:36 race, so he was obviously either sick or tired. After a big effort it is common to get sick. That would be my guess. That this was a 28 close may mean that it indicates nothing to Tim and Elijah, but the fact he went past Tefera, the new indoor wr holder, with ease might mean that they won't let it get to a kick against Jakob.
Also, if the Ingebrigtsens wanted a fast time, they should have run at Birmingham.
Tefera is my new favorite runner. The fact he lost means he must be clean. I was worried last week that he was dirty. After all, I have learned on these boards that winning means you are a doper. I also learned on these boards that a clean 3:31 1500 is humanly impossible and that there is no historical reason to think that Ethiopians would ever be good at distance running.
But this means that Ingrebrigsten is dirty. . . . Too bad, I believed in him before he won.
According to Norwegian newspapers, Gjert Ingebrigtsen said tonight's race was easy.

rojo, do you honestly believe the drug testing in Ethiopia and Norway is equivalent? It was only a few years ago that people scoffed at suggestions that the Kenyans might be doping.

Well that's a lie, at least if you're talking about a reasonable number of people.
