Lance is the DOPE!
Lance hit the genetic lottery. Then $, greed, and power took over. Poor choices. Has the guy done his time? Payed enough?
"champion"
+1
I think that first marathon he ran after giving up competitive cycling he ran very close to a 3:00 marathon. Kudos to him for not slipping from that point onward.
He ran as the “charity chaser,” meaning he was the final starter and donations to charity were to be made based on how many runners he passed.
Doesn't he have a lifetime ban in all sports from WADA?

Lifetime cycling ban. Only had a 4 year sportwide ban. He can't compete in National or International competitions at any sport though still

The total ban was partially lifted a few years ago. He's forever banned from cycling events. He can compete in a sanctioned event at a national or regional level in a sport other than cycling that does not qualify him to compete in a national championship or international event.
Also, I thought he was gunning for 2:40.

In his youtube show he talked a big game. Got some coach, was supposedly going to do all these long training runs, get up to 70 mpw, etc. And then he didn't do much actual training. Blamed a hammy but he wasn't doing much before the injury either.

On just about zero training. Like one 6 mile run or something. Then said it was the hardest thing he's ever done, which fake runners use to justify how "hard" running is.
Yes, running a marathon would be extremely hard if you never, ever trained for it. Even for a .0001% athlete.

No, it was modified to allow for him to participate in event such as these.
Glad for him, he is trying to run his life around. How may people with little training like he did can run a 3:02?
Not many for what I have read in other threads here. Kudos for Lance!

As a punishment?
shows that:
Talent does not go away
Benefits of PEDs does not go away
Muscle memory does not go away

The motivation of being a charity chaser likely helped.
IMO, I would not want a charity I was really involved with to benefit from his athletic effort
I’m happy for him; he deserves the chance to get out there. As much as they try, they can’t take the need to run away from us. You know who you are, pencil-pushers, self-appointed guardians of virtue, greedy race organizers, blah blah blah. Lance was guilty, but there’s no need to make him a scapegoat forever.
Is Lance still getting tested? What's to say he's not still doping?
It would be ironic if he improved his times and managed to qualify for the Olympics in 2020. Who knows? Imagine seeing the goat runner Bekele and goat cyclist in same race?
