Well, this makes me feel a bit better about my boys flashing our school's initials with their hands at the finish line...yikes. They got criticized for it too.

I'd say it's more disturbing than disrespectful. What is wrong with that dude?
MA: Nothing could possibly be a bigger embarrassment than the mediocre times that win our state meet.
Jon Diaz: Hold my Gatorade.
quit whining.... kid sent the field home devastated. So what if he waves his dong around bc he shat on them.
In PA, any kind of celebration can get you a DQ, if you have the right (or wrong ) official. I've seen kids just put their hands up at the finish line and get DQ'd. That kid should definitely be.

Yeah I agree. But add it is both disturbing and disrespectful.

*cough cough* *Loudoun Valley*
It BAFFLES me that Dalton Hengst has not been discussed on this thread yet. Dude has some of the WORST post-race celebrations ever.

Think so. Swinging it?
Didn't know what to expect coming to this thread but that celebration was a disgrace. Would like to see more celebration in T&F tbh but stuff like Conseslus Kipruto dancing or even Centro's throat slash to keep things a little more spicy. Stuff like this isn't it.

True, but he will be forever known for the water bottle incident.
I expect high schoolers to be immature and obnoxious.
I opened this thread expecting to see old people getting whiny about nothing, but that "celebration" was actually terrible and really gross. I don't know if DQing someone for something that happened after the race is the right approach, but if I was his parent or coach I would be super embarrassed. Who swings their junk around like that???
The precedent was set by Centro this year (and previously) with his silly, "Call 911 - There's been a murder." celebration. It's hard to tell kids to behave a certain way when this is one of their role models. If you want to complain anywhere, complain to the IAAF. I personally think celebrating should be allowed. Not because I like it, but because I know who is annoying without having to talk to them.
A few examples in case you live under a track and field rock

Should be DQ'd for sure. Looks like an arrogant little prick. 2:33 ain't much, Mass is just weak. I ran 2:31 and got 10th at my state meet last year, and the winner who actually ran fast (2:26) had enough respect to congratulate the other competitors after the race.
lol why are you so butthurt over his celebration? You can't DQ someone for respect. sometimes athletes choose to play the villain role. let them celebrate how they want, they were the ones who put in the work to get there
This thread is this kid's dream. He might have a great future taking the lead in a D3 meet only to be passed in the second lap. The kid didn't even meet the NBIN standard. So this is his moment...not winning the race...the attention he got from LRC. So bravo kid.
Centre didn’t grab his crotch and swing it around though.
