According to this video Kemoy Campbell has a net worth of $5 million.

So you're saying, according to that video, he and his family have EIGHT houses???
Are you sure he has amassed $5 million since graduating Arkansas....? Definitely not through professional running. Everyone knows running doesn't pay that much over a short period of time.
Is there a family business he has ownership in? I am extremely interested. This is definitely nice to learn more about Kemoy and his background in Jamaica.

Good to hear Kemoy is recovering. I'll be chipping in a few quid to the gofundme account. I hope the rest of you do too.
Do you have a link? I can't find one.

Never mind. Found it.
Look at this complicated mess. No one seems to be responsible for Kemoy Campbell's medical expenses. Reps of Armory and reps of Millrose Games are posting anonymously on here stating K Campbell was an independent contractor. They do not want to pay any medical expenses. How did we get to this point? How did we get to a situation in which one has to work for a large corporation to have good medical benefits?
During Great Depression and during WW2, U.S. President F.D.R. wanted a wage freeze in U.S. F.D.R. wanted top marginal income tax rate to be 100%. We know there are compromises to get legislation passed. By 1945 through mid-1950's top marginal tax rate was (91 to 94)%. Since a high salary was not used to recruit workers, corporation in 1930's and 1940's recruited workers with benefits. Benefits such as health care, dental coverage, pensions, life insurance and company cars.
Huey Long was going to run for U.S. President in 1936. Huey Long wanted health care for all. Huey Long did not want the extremely complicated type health care like Affordable Care Act. Affordable Care Act has allowed those who get rich off of health care to get wealthier. Huey Long wanted government health care for all. Huey Long wanted to make the doctors work for the people. Huey Long wanted medical doctors to be government employees. Huey Long was assassinated by a medical doctor, 1935.
Looks like everyone in the outrage culture that Millrose Games first responders didn't react quickly enough can now shut up.
Ah so happy i dont live in the usa
I can't bring myself to give money to a pro athlete when I don't even make 80 grand a year myself :(
Where is the insurance for the event? He was a paid rabbit i.e. an employee.

Healthcare costs are not dischargeable. Even if KC declares bankruptcy, the bill for the overpriced services he is receiving will still be due.
Questions on insurance:
1) Anyone have a guess on what cost of care would be without insurance?
Cambpell is going to be an independent contractor. Nearly all runners are . So he would be responsible for buying his own insurance and looks like foreign residents can buy into Obamacare if I'm reading this right.
2) My read is foreign residents are subject to Obamacare rules. If he's following the mandate he should have insurance. Anyone know what type of Visa he has:
https://www.visitorguard.com/obamacare-for-usa-visitors-and-immigrants/
3) If he had a covered plan and the medical care is covered the Out of piocket max would be $7,900. Insurance guys please confirm.
He may need a ton more money for rehab, the fact he'll have to transition into a new career if he can't run, etc.
4) Wouldn' the Armory/Millrose event insurance cover some of this? Most events have insurance for catastrophic acts at event.
Why should the facility or the meet cover someone getting stricken ill at the event? If you have a guest over to your house and they have a heart attack, and lack insurance, do you cover the costs? If you go to work and have a heart attack, is it up to your employer to cover your costs? I am sorry he was stricken, but unless he has a contract with the event or facility that says they are responsible for something like this they don't have to do anything. Unfortunately, in this world, bad things happen to good people, but that does not mean someone else is at fault.

Go smoke some more pages of Atlas Shrugged
Yes, he shouldn't need a go fund me page to raise money. It seems like a knee jerk reaction and pretty quick after the event. However, medical expenses are ridiculous, and he, his family, his team, and sponsor need to cover themselves. Serious medical treatments can be terribly expensive, so it is better to safe than sorry. His health and recovery should be their first concern, but if the expenses get out of control, it could affect him financially for a long time.

This pretty much sums it up

Hard core Libertarians,
If Papa Joe Stalin were not so rough on Alisa Rosenbaum's parents would we have Libertarians? Papa Joe Stalin stated Rosenbaum's father's business, Property of the People. Rosenbaum turned her anger into an economic philosophy. Since she never knew a damn thing about economics, it's fantasy economics for upper-middleclass teenage boys.

Why? Why in the hell would there be a limit? Any company with a heart would say don't worry about your financial obligations, we've got this.
Why don't you STFU and pony up to his account if you're so concerned.
Some people are so generous with other people's money.

I sort of figured the meet would have some insurance or USATF would. This was a USATF event.
I played rec soccer in Texas. A guy on my team broke his neck playing. There was some sort of supplemental insurance the league had that I think might even be mandated by USASoccer.
So I just googled and they do have insurance but looks like MAX payout is $10,000
http://www.usatf.org/membership/benefits/groupinsurance.aspHave we established if Kemoy had any insurance?

Companies don't have a heart because (despite some Supreme Court rulings to the contrary) "they" are not people - just a bunch of legal papers that probably reside in Delaware. Some people at Reebok have a heart so they have found a way to give $50K - and ,who knows, maybe more - but the company is under no such obligation. If an independent contractor at your company were to have a similar incident the same rules would apply. People within your company may choose to help out but the company itself as a legal entity only owes that contractor that which has been legally obligated. It has neither heart nor hate - and ascribing emotions to a company makes as much sense as believing animated characters are the same as real humans.
I got run over during a road race and collected nothing from the event. Millrose certainly was not at fault here.
