No Moron.
Dog clearly has intrinsic tarmac ^sub 3:00 without headwind plus carrying Fam ~135lbs weight.
On mondo without wind or dragging Fam's 135 lbs dog easily has intrinsic ^sub 2:30 even when lapping bewildered opponents.
Dog would dispatch toxplasmotic Coe and his Rome stray cats after first 200m of mile (!) race plus Kloufi would be worried after 300m
EPO loaded Kiprop would have no chance even when leg press trained.
Only hope is for Centro in tactical last 50m with dog eating dog treats in race.
Learn too analyze.
Brilliant! Thank you for this.

Best post I have read here in a while.
Pretty sure this is canine abuse.
Don't let the SPCA see this video.

So it begs the question... what is animal kingdom WR for the mile? Of course you have the speed demons like cheetahs and greyhounds but can they sustain it for a mile? What about a marathon?
Do falcons dive a mile?

If Famigletti ran 3:59 with a dog wearing flats AND on pavement SOLO, he is definitely in sub 4 shape on a track with spikes and a pacer. Very very impressive and unique idea!
He recently ran an indoor mile in 4:21. Having a dog is a huge advantage. When Fam is in the air, the dog is continuing to pull him forward at sub 4:00 pace. There's an English guy who runs just under 15 minutes on the road but can run sub 13:00 with his dog.
Oh, didn't realize that!

No. No it doesn't.

Maybe someone who knows more about this than me can chime in but I believe sled dogs are capable of running 4 minute pace all day in a pack pulling a sled. There was an article I read somewhere comparing animals to olympic athletes and the gist was that elite marathoners would get crushed by your average pack of sled dogs. I will post that article if I find it.
Also I recall Hutchinson in his book Endure talking about how dogs have an enzyme that humans lack that is useful for using proteins as energy, so they can derive energy for running very fast aerobically from the meat they eat. Humans are insignificant in the broader scope of the animal kingdom.

Check out these results for the 2007 Open North American sled dog race, and note the track records set. It's a three day event, 20 miles the first and second days, and 27.5 miles (or 27.7?) the last day.
Streeper's team ran 2:54 per mile (over 20 mph) on average for 20 miles the first day for the 20 mile track record. Ellis's team ran 3:08 per mile for 27.5 miles on the last day, after a couple hard days of racing already.
Where exactly was this run? I'll believe that "1 mile" chalk art when I measure it myself in mapmyrun.
It has to be measured manually, on the tangents. If automatic it will add extra meters, and that could easily have been 1595 meters.
Stroller is slower?
The dog looked relaxed.
The man was 40+ but how old is the dog in human years? If 6 or older it could be a masters record

Hmmm. But not. Humans have brains and invented guns that shoot a dog in the head before the start of the ‘race’. Human wins, dog loses. Every mammal loses the race to the human. Suck my balls.
This would be more impressive on a track or oval of some kind. Not only does it appear that the dog is actually pulling him, but there could be a tailwind and an elevation drop.
Not even sure if that run was anaerobic for that little guy . He wanted to go much faster ! That was pretty cool !
More detailed article about the event and the dog
It's not some kind of average stray for adoption unfortunately as nice as that would be, Border-Collie+Whippet mix sounds like a perfect recipe for a fast dog, he might be holding it back, lol

Is the dog wearing vaporfly's?
Did he go out at sub-4 pace in this race and blow up? He claimed to run a 4:02 mile in a course he measured at home. Then he ran 4:11 at Fifth Avenue and now this 4:19. He's not in 4:00 shape but I think he's in better than 4:19 shape.
