Stop with the myth that Purrier and Schweizer were bad in high school. Purrier ran 59, 2:11, 4:50, 10:56 and 17:49 5k in XC all off essentially 15 miles a week. As a Power 5 coach, if I get a recruit like that, I fully expect her to be All-American as a junior at the latest.
The vast majority of women getting full scholarships are burned out in high school. Any coach would take a girl like Purrier over a much faster girl from Saratoga or FM who has been running 70 mile weeks since 7th grade.
