If you read who is saying what, it's actually liberal commentators - Guardian columnists, African-Americans - who are saying well those are awful thoughts, but many people have them, and it's a constructive step that he is admitting them.
This is unlike Mel - who refused to come clean about his anti-Semitism and abusive behavior.
Unlike Mark Wahlberg, who actually harassed and beat up innocent black kids and Asians.
