This call-out culture is annoying when it gets this far off base.
Now we're going after people for admitting that they made a mistake in their thinking decades ago.
What's next? Someone being charged with misogyny and having their life ruined because they used the word "b*tch" one time in their youth...but that means they used a term specific to a female to convey a pejorative meaning...which means they view females and being something pejorative...which means they have fully absorbed the patriarchal teachings of past cultures and are perpetuating harmful misogyny that harms females, transpeople, gays, lesbians, and any other member of a minority group...which means they are a Nazi and deserve the indignation of everyone who cares about justice.
Give me a break.
This is similar to thing with Kevin Hart. It was proclaimed as "why do so many people care about what he said on Twitter years ago!?"
The reality is almost always this in regards to these events : very, very few people actually care. Those that do are the fringe bloggers who's livelihood depend on clicks, and angry social media keyboard warriors.
Someone mentioned Roseanne. Roseanne had a history of saying really stupid things and then doubled down making her look even crazier. If she had just stfu she'd be fine and would still have a show. Literally all Liam Neeson has to do is apologize once and not engage with social media fanatics and he'll be 100% OK.
