How many states could this young lady be a state champ for all 4 of these events: 200, 400, 800, 1500 or 1600?!
She's also run 18:40 for 5K in XC. I'm slightly impressed.

I wonder why she isn't in the Millrose Games High School mile. She would be a worthy challenger to Katelyn Tuohy.
That's 4:34.51 for 1500 not the mile. Tuohy can run her mile pr pace for basically a 5k.
This girl will gallop to numerous national titles. Color me impressed.
Compared to the 200, the 400 is ok but 800 and especially 1500 are weak.

Mu is running the 600 where she has a shot at the national record
Um why is it that you can set HS records while not competing for any HS but you cannot set collegiate records just because you are "college aged"?
Should note too that her 2:03 800 was on a flat track, so probably worth 2:02.x banked. She's an incredibly exciting prospect though, fun to watch
With no Ajee Wilson or Sammy Watkins recently pushing the 2min mark, Mu was the new balance national champ last year at 800, both indoor and out as a SOPH - the outdoor in 2:04ish. She certainly has a chance this indoor season to get the high school indoor mark of 2:01.98 by Watkins and she could even break 2 outdoor - so her 800 on a national high school level is pretty good. She doesn't run the 1500/1600/mile very much, as it's not her strength, but still shows pretty amazing range.
I saw Athing's first track meet when she started with the Trenton Track Club. They were part of the UAGTCA Youth Track League in Philly. She was so raw that she was wearing sweat pants (in May) while running and winning the 1500 in lane two and three the WHOLE race. Since then she has obviously matured a lot as a runner.
I could tell she'd be the next big thing from the UAG league. This is a youth league with an alumni list that includes Marquis Dendy, English Gardner, Leroy Burrell, Dennis Mitchell, Marielle Hall, Ajee Wislon, Nia Ali, Taylor Ellis-Watson, Gabrielle Wilkinson (beat Tuohy in the Millrose Mile, now a freshman Gator) , Lamont Smith and others.
Athing is the best female track prospect from this area since Ajee. What's crazy is she'll never approach Ajee's amount of NJ State titles because she will never compete in a NJ HS State Meet.

Maybe but Athing Mu is more likely to be a medalist in international competition than Tuohy.

I'd like to point out her range one more time. She's raced all the way up to 5k for XC. I'm not saying she's going to be international level at the 1500 on up, although you never know considering she could have a nasty kick at the end of a somewhat tactical championship 1500. Anyway, I'm impressed that she's tackled a variety of distances and appears to have given her all no matter if it's a world class time or not. That shows a strong spirit.
big L on this take
