No reason to lift 6 days per week. The only people who'd lift that frequently would be doing very specific body part splits, such as bodybuilders. That much aerobic activity would be counterproductive for that endeavor.
To get the best of both worlds, lift 4 days weekly. Someone earlier mentioned upper/lower splits, I agree 100%.
Joe DeFranco has a program called "Westside For Skinny Bastards" which is perfect for runners looking to gain functional strength (an overused and oft-misused term) and size. You can adapt the # of reps and sets to accomplish your physique goal.
