Good policy but not good enough.
A year is not enough time, the minimum standard is two years for good reason if not completely transitioned with operation.
But ignoring those that refuse to accept facts, and appreciating those that honestly want to understand, do you know what the performance difference is between elite men and elite women?
It's 10-12%, this has been studied extensively.
So, you know what the performance difference is between a runner before transition and after?
It's 10-12%, and that also has been studied and documented extensively.
This is why the cries of "unfair" are so stupid.
But what's more stupid is the massive amount of bigotry and discrimination for such a tiny tiny minority, it's rather disgusting. Many people are losing their minds over less than 100 serious runners in the United States, making laws, regulations, protests. For less than 100 people. There is something deeply wrong with that reaction to that level.
I think this is going to have to be like before people who are gay were accepted in society, it took a long time where people actually had to make friends or meet family members who were gay to truly understand there was no threat and that treating them like "the other" was wrong. Sadly that took decades and I guess this will also take that long because our society does not react well to minorities.
