Well, Trump is good for something. I never really get taxes back. I either pay $100 or get refunded $100, but this year got over $3k back in a year in which I sold a home and sold stock. I'll take it.
Well mouthbreathing Trumpers in states like WI and MI may not be so lucky due to the Trump/ Ryan/ McConnell tax grab. Many will see their taxes go up as the suffer through double taxation due to SALT deduction elimination by the Fed.
But, given that these folks are mouth breathers that are incapable of critical thinking and logical thought processes they will likely blame Dems for their tax issues.
Taxes went down for almost everyone in the middle class, contrary the Democrat's successful campaign to convince their low-information base otherwise
Get someone to do your taxes and you'll get more back. I made about 160 last year and got back like 5 grand through my tax guy. Haven't filed this year yet.

Why is anyone celebrating the fact that the govt lowered taxes without also lowering spending?
The previous Congress baffles me. They self congratulated a year ago for the tax bill but without spending cuts they are just imperilling the country.

Thanks for bragging. Just giving the Dems fodder to raise taxes.

Not raise taxes. Undo the disastrous tax cuts made by Republicans.
I don't care about the government.

That would be raising taxes, genius.

Eventually the tax cut bill will come due. The easiest source of money is not paying out social security benefits that we all paid into our whole lives. And there’s absolutely nothing we can do legally because social security is not a contractual promise. It’s a nicety.
Who cares about social security other than poors? A guy making $233k shouldn't need social security.
With most American's propensity for getting into debt to buy shiny toys and impress their neighbors, this guy is probably *more* likely to be needing social security than "the poors"

Moran... its tax year 2018.
Moran... you had too much withholding you stupid git
Moran...you lost money on your house
Moran...you lost on your stocks too
Just for clarity, I kept the exact same witholdings as last year.
I made $62k on my home.
Right now, I am +22% on the stock I sold, so am feeling good. I have thousands of more shares anyways.
Just amazed at my tax return after 15+ years of returns.
This year it was difficult for people who lived in High Income Tax/High Property Tax states to calculate the proper amount of withholding. So much so that the IRS waived penalties for many whose tax withholding and estimated tax payments fell short in 2018.
As it turns out almost all of the states that fall into the category cast their Electoral College votes against the president and were rewarded with a tax hike rather than a tax cut. Capping deductions for state and property taxes at $10,000 cost me real money this year to the tune of almost 10K. It would have been a different situation in many red states.

If you have that much in real estate and state taxes that you used to deduct, I think you must be doing ok. This is also the counter to the D argument that the tax cuts benefited the wealthy too much.

He also said he sold stock and I think most brokers don't send 1099-Bs until February 15th
I already got my federal and state returns accepted.
Charles Schwab already sent out their 1099's, obviously you don't invest, do you?

Actually many brokerage 1099s will not go out until February on account of qualified dividend income. Corporations have the ability to classify dividend income through the month of January.
