She ran 500m in 69.64. All she would have to do is run 42-43 seconds for the last 300m and she would have record.

No. No. No. No. No. A billion times no.
No.
The woman who holds the 800m record.
She doesn't have the balls to break that record.
No. The record is held by a well known doper. No clean athlete can break it.

Fixed
Did you watch the Olympic 800? wrote:

I doubt she even tries, probably mostly the 400 Hurdles and 400, I could see her being top 10 in the World in the 200, and Maybe 100 Hurdles and Long Jump if she focused on it.
no
Nope. She would have the most makeup on in the history of the 800 though!
Good comment.... what is with that womens 800.
Still, I would love to see Sydney run it sometime.
I think she could honestly do it. It’s only 42 seconds for 300m which isn’t too hard

She does have Trans look to her and a manly build. Do we know for sure McLauglhin is a woman?
^^This is ridiculous. Sydney looks nothing like a man.
She will NEVER run an 800m. There is no need to discuss this. It WILL NOT happen. This 500m will likely be the furthest distance that she will ever race. Although I would not rule out an indoor 600m at some point, I would still bet that she won't even do that.

That would be Shannon Rowbury

No, using the "people slow down by about 4 sec/400m lap as the distance doubles" rule, she'd be expected to slow down by 4sec * log2(800 / 500) = 2.6 sec / 400m. If she is only capable of 69.64s for 500m which is 55.7 sec/400m pace, this means she should be able to run about 1:56.4. Holding the 56.7s/40 pace required for a 1:53.3 800 meters would mean slowing down only about half as much as the rule-of-thumb suggests which seems unlikely for a 400m specialist moving up to the 800m. This all assumes that 69.6s sec is a good performance for her. Maybe she's capable of faster if she race it more. Who knows.
42-43 seconds for last 300 is pretty much the pace she ran the WHOLE 500. That's like saying "This runner ran the 600 in 1:15, do you think they could run the last 200 in 26 seconds (slightly slower than the pace of the 600) and run 1:41 for the 800?" And 600 is closer to the 800 than the 500. Okolo ran 65 seconds, so maybe we should assume she'll break the world record by 4 seconds?
The women’s 800m needs to be cleaned up. With other events, you could argue and postulate and infer all sorts of things, lacking proof all the while.
With the women’s 800m, all you have to do is use your eyes. It would be extremely hard to confuse the world record holder for a woman. She is clearly not, at to where her drugs took her physically. We have openly trans women competing all throughout the world, dominating the 800m from international level down to high school level.
Hyper-compassion sucks if this is where it’s bringing us. I don’t like having my fastest female athletes focus on the 800m, because in everything you do there should be this strive and hope, that maybe possibly you could work to be the best. Not true in the women’s 800m, which is OPENLY dominated by cheaters in 2019. It’s insane.
You forget she ran cross country in high school. An 800 would be right in her wheel house. The doped up record is beyond reach reach but she could run 1:55. Im thinking for Tokyo she is planning a Juantoreino 400 hurdles / 800 double, plus the 4x4. ???

The last 300m is the HARDEST part of the race?????
Not going to happen.
World Record, never, that event is for dopers and dudes. American Record, maybe if she trained for it.
I've seen too much antecdotal evidence of a pretty strong correlation between 400 hurdler talent and 800 meter talent over the years for me to not believe that Sydney could be a great 800 runner.
Sorry for the awkward wording. I'm trying to say I think she could be Ajee Wilson good if she wanted to be an 800 meter runner.
I'm going to believe that until she tries to be an 800 meter runner and fails. Since there is really no reason for her to try, I'll always believe it.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
