The concept is cool, but these days with treadmills available literally everywhere, it is pretty dumb to spend two hours in the cold shovelling snow. Guarantee the kid has tons of muscle soreness in a few days from shovelling for two hours - that alone will impair his training for while.
He also risks injury being out there in the cold shovelling that much snow.
Lastly, this was an easy day apparently - why go to so much risky physical effort to get in a recovery day - hit the pool and water run, ride the indoor bike, treadmill, go to a local apartment building and run stairs. Tons of options that don't result in some really slow slog in cold weather that will hurt, not help training.
I just ran on the roads - most were plowed - no big deal.
