Only time will tell that tale. There have been many sure things.

How did this seem like a good meet to try to come back at?

her coach is a moron, she clearly wasn't ready. i don't know how he thought she could pull of that double either.
Lane deserves better, she was set up to fail at this meet by her coach. I hope this doesn't set her back even more. I hope the dartmouth coaches are smarter.

Claudia Lane can be seen dramatically falling off the track at about 1:59 of the race, just entering the first curve after the 600m mark. Those with subscriptions can watch it here:
https://va.milesplit.com/videos/326713She was supposed to double back in Sunday's 2 mile, but the announcer said that minor injuries caused her to scratch. Maybe IT band issues. It is discussed prior to the start of the race, around the 1:00 mark, here:

Can you imagine Tuohy being out for 10 months with an injury? I hate to say this about the kid, she seems super sweet, but she just doesn’t have the toughness and tenacity anymore to really compete at a high level. Wish her luck in future endeavors.
You must be so tough man.
He sounded pretty genuine to me. Nobody is wishing poor of her, they are just stating their opinions. I think she will never be relevant again. What happened to the Frazier sisters? What happened to Cain? What happened to Jenks? What is happening to Ping and Lane?
Grace Ping I thought was still going pretty strong. She’s only a sophomore
Yes she is still going strong. But some of her PRs were from 7th grade when she won Griak and finished 2nd at NB behind only Kelati. Going strong would be like Rupp running in the marathon next year finishing 3rd in the US. You would say he is done even though he would be 3rd best in the country.

Meanwhile, Bullis school making a mockery of records by trotting out a team of mercenaries. I, for one, disregard these performances beyond the athletic feat that they are. Does anyone have any insight into the economics of that place? Are all the stars on full scholarship? What about the 2nd tier?
I guess getting all these upper classmen transfers is a good economic plan...they're only on the books briefly and they're already known talents.
Whole different thread but I agree. Bullis HS records deserve an asterisk. Completely recruited team from top to bottom and paid in tuition. I feel bad for real high schools that have to do it with the talent in the hallways.

I just think people should remember these are not professional runners. they are still in HS. I have had a few bad races due to over thinking myself because some article or forums said I would perform at a certain level. I also do realize that with success comes more critics but still. Coming back from injury shouldn't be rushed. I wouldn't say she is soft because of her first attempt to comeback not being some nationally ranked performance. just my opinion

You are an idiot.
I am glad that someone is able to see the future as compared to us mere mortals who can only predict the future based on experiences we have or things that we have witnessed. Educated guesses are the things that further scientific breakthroughs. Calling people idiots for expressing opinions about the future is the type of thinking that caused man to believe the world was flat for such a long period of time. So since you seem to know the future, how fast will she run this year and through college? I don’t believe she will ever run faster but that is only my opinion because I can’t see the future.

I agree they are HS runners. But why is she trying to race indoors on the east coast when she lives in CA?
Bad choice by parents & coach.
Missing half a year of training or more is tough. From watching it, she looked like she was over striding a little bit and her cadence is just much slower than usual and it doesn't help that she's a heel striker. If I were her, I wouldn't start racing till April.

You do have a point there. Maybe she was itching to hurry and get some lowkey races under her belt? Was the meet a big invitational?
She "tripped" and "fell" out of the race...you gotta watch the replay on FloTrack!
