Strava does a lot of things backwards in this regard, at least in my opinion. They respect stopping the watch and allow distance correction of GPS runs (expect for segments of course), but don't for non-GPS runs. The GPS is going to be way more accurate than a wrist based accelerometer. My Garmin would very reluctantly stray from an assumed 8:30 pace on the treadmill. I would always have to add a manual entry for the missed distance. Got a foot pod recently and it now seems to be a pretty consistent 15 seconds slower than the treadmill's reported pace. 6:15 is much better than the 7:24 or so it used to record at 10mph, so I just accept the Garmin distance now.
