Based on the Walmsley discussions on the Message Board over the last two months, I thought it was interesting that there was no mention of Walmsley's OTQ attempt in Houston in the preview article.

Do the Brojos (or the person who wrote the article) have any idea who he is?
Look at the entry list and there are 12 Americans alone with a faster PR than what Jim hopes to run in his "debut" half marathon.
I love Jim. Love his go for broke style. I'm on record as saying I hope he does get the OTQ and feel like he COULD be a strong contender for a podium spot at the trials. A lot of competition behind Rupp for the 2 and 3 spots and a course setup in the A-T-L that won't be much at all for him to handle (I mean, come on, 1500 feet of up over 26.2 miles?
Western States 100, where he has the CR, has a straight 2,550 foot climb in the first 4.5 miles).
Everyone mentioned is faster than him until he goes out and shows otherwise.
There will be plenty of mentions of Walmsley when he beats them all.
Is he even in the field? He is not listed in the press release:

Is he planning on running in the citizens race?
All of this talk and all of these threads. If he isn't even in the field, it would be priceless.
Of course not.
We will be glad if he finishes the whole thing without walking.

That's why we love Walmsley fanboys. Always good for a laugh.

Rule #1 of reading an article or PR release: Always read the whole thing.
You failed #1. Congrats, moran.
I give him a 50/50 shot of beating the women's winner.

Yes he is. Who taught you to read?
If he qualifies, I'll profess my undying love of Jim Walmsley.

Jim himself just recently stated that the field will clobber him in Houston. He knows there is no chance of a podium spot and if he runs even just under the OTQ time it will be an amazing result.

Article below. Quote from Walmsley is last one in the article:
"“I will get clobbered by the top guys in the Houston Half Marathon this weekend,” he added, “but I would gladly take any one of them for a nice day in the Grand Canyon and flip the tables on them.”
Interesting enough is the quote from Max King, who knows what it takes at this level:
“Jim’s track times are really good, so he should be able to run under 64 in Houston fairly easily,” says Max King, another elite-level runner known for excelling in a broad range of events, from the steeplechase to the 100K.

This shows again that Walmsley is just a nice weather kind of guy.
I hope he finishes this weekend.
Will he have an elite bib number or be entrant #2382?
Agreed. That should absolutely be on the front page

Correct. Won’t happen though. Brojos are not fans of ultrarunning. Eventually, they may need to start covering it. The boards have been “trending that way” very much ever since the dawn of the Walmsley era.
