Why does he get so much hype? He’s a 2:14 guy?

Hahahaha. Not very surprising. This guy lives and breathes for social media fame.

To quote the POTUS, "Sounds good, doesn't work." He is always hyping himself up. Although he doesn't need to i.e. sub 28 minute 10000m PB and 62 minute half PB(if I was him I would work on his 3000m-10000m track times, get near 27 minutes for 10000m and than move back up to the marathon) . If I was him I would get off of social media and let my legs do the talking. Leonard Korir doesn't need social media to hype himself up, he let his sub 60 minute half marathon ability do the talking for him.

Wow, that is actually sad to hear that Stinson is one of those guys, or teenage girls, who pulls those instagram tactics to satisfy their own vanity. Requesting to follow someone and then unfollow them just to make themselves look more popular? At ae 26? That's sad.
I honestly would have nothing else negative to say. I graduated on year ahead of the guy, and am genuinely disappointed to hear he's become that type of shallow.
Who in the world has the time to track their followers and then unfollow them that quickly? Every day? That's on par with some of Rupp's treadmill workouts.
Instagram is where the money is. It's not just vanity it's the modern world of how you make money. Once he gets followers he can sell his training diary for $5 a month as he's currently doing. Saucony will sponsor him more if he has more followers. It's just business.
It's worth talking about tho as it means he is not a professional athlete, he is just a self employed sales and marketing guy, using online content to generate revenue.
There's a 2:25 guy called Ben Parkes in the UK who has a huge Insta following and gets money from that . Is he a professional runner ?
There's loads of 3:xx female runners with good bodies who make money off Instagram content. Are they professional runners ?

its well known he basically coaches himself like desi did just wears there kit.
They all need to stfu and download the training log of Bill Rodgers. No glam photos or product shilling, just going hard everyday in the freezing cold while racking up 150 miles a week and slowly losing your mind

You might be hearing his name again quite soon. I think sub 62:00 is on the cards this weekend.
The only thing I want to know is whether Ritz uses 'stinson' as a verb.

I wonder if Stinson would've agreed to this article had he not done a great workout leading up to the race this weekend?? I feel like a lot of the press I read around him is about great workouts he has done. Also didn't he date Jordan Hasay for minute in college? Regardless, I'll be checking the stats to see if he goes sub 1:02 this week .
Interesting. Will not be surprised if a similar fate occurs. Just like the Sports Illustrated cover jinx, all of this per-race hype and going to run such and such has hardly come to fruition in the past for any USA runner. Talk, talk, talk and zero results.
Even Kipchoge does not put himself out there with 'I'm going to run such and such'
Wow, Parker can sure generate emotion! I had the luxury of meeting Parker and even spent an evening with him. I found him very engaging, easy going and an overall pleasure to be around. He was definitely not all about himself, and took time to ask questions and showed overall concern and interest in others. Far from conceited as you might expect from an athlete of his caliber. Yes, you could see his confidence, and that is very common for any person that is successful in what they do for a living. The .0001 percent of people that can actually beat him and feel the need to critique his training/racing/running I guess go for it. He is doing his best to make a living thru running and all aspects that touch it in today's world, which obviously includes social media. I admire the fact that he's going for it in races and isn't afraid to openly talk of his goals and aspirations. Keep it up Parker, many PR's ahead!
Are the guys badmouthing a 2:11 the same guys who post statistics about how no Americans can break 2:12 like they used to 40 years ago?
I'm going to be happy every time a guy runs 2:11 and not think less of him because he doesn't run 2:04.
Stinson is exactly the kind of guy we need more of to add depth to the American lineup.
It's well known to who?

Very good question, but a lot of the posters here are spot on about the marketing, instagram, etc - it's all part of the business of professional running and gaining/pleasing sponsors - unless of course you can run 26:44/59:xx/2:06 like Galen.
As for the hype, I think Stinson has shown potential to run sub-2:11 or better - he just hasn't quite figured it out yet. Compared to Scott Fauble, Jared Ward, etc - these guys have figured it out and are running 2:12 (Ward did run 2:11 at Rio), they don't seem to have the talent or ability to run any faster.
What's up Stinson!
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
