Look, an overwhelming majority of riders understand what you said and wouldn't take a horse out on trails until they knew it wasn't easily spooked....BUT....think about your reaction the last time someone scared you....now apply that an horse weighing 1500 pounds and you being on top of that horse.
Um, I spent 20 years riding horses and never expected more than ATV and snowmobile riders to not actually run into me on purpose. If a rider were to freak out at me for not following their protocol I tell them exactly how I feel.
Those folks need to stay in the indoor arena where it's safe. Even then they find stuff to whine about.
