Exactly. I ran XC, indoor and outdoor track in New York, all through high school. The seasons for the three disciplines had little downtime between them and practically bled into each other (it was more like one long single season that ran from September to June) , but I loved running and at no time did I feel over-raced or burned out. Our coach had us take 2 to 3 weeks of complete rest at the conclusion of outdoor season followed by a gradual resumption of training, and my teammates and I were fine. None of the athletes thought this was excessive, injuries were a rarity, and several of us continued racing in college and beyond.
