Mis-measuring anesthesia?
Gosh, that is awful.
allergic reaction to anesthetic or antibiotic?
Blood clot or bone marrow embolus leading to PE?
People die in surgery every day (even in plastic surgery and dental surgery). Any time someone is under general anesthesia there is a risk (0.064% according to research I have read). About 6 times as many people die each year in the US from adverse reactions to anesthesia than die from lightning strikes. People react to sedation drugs differently and sometimes people can have chemicals in their systems that affect how sedation drugs are metabolized. It's tragic, but it happens.
Yesterday morning the Strength Coach at the same High School died after surgery. Please remember their school, family and community.

That’s horrible :(. Was it at the same hospital? That would be an amazing coincidence, no?
I'm not one to believe in coincidences, so either the anesthesia that the hospital is using is mislabeled or the players and coaches at the school are taking a supplement that is a CYP3A4 inhibitor that is causing them to over sedate and fall into respiratory distress.
My guess is it is a supplement. People need to make sure they are disclosing everything they are taking before going in for surgery. A lot of supplements (herbal and otherwise) contain substances that inhibit Cytochrome P450.
If that is what it was, I wonder if you figured it out before the hospital did
surgery is serious serious business
people act like it's nothing
racist surgeons?
The article states he died the day AFTER surgery. The anesthesia is long gone by then. I'm sure an autopsy will be done. Very sad for this young man.

I read two other articles that both said he died from complications from surgery. That pretty much leaves you anesthesia or blot clot.

What supplements do that? Can you give some examples of thing they might have been taking?

Here is a list:

One of the more well known things is grapefruit juice (all citrus have some effect, but grapefruit juice and lime juice are two of the more powerful).
Doctors make medical errors. Anesthesiology isn’t 100%. Patient could have had some undiagnosed disease. Pick your choice.

Surprised you are questioning this.
