Unless things have changed the past 10 years, the take home depends on various things. The host may be an instructor who may bring other instructors in on a salary basis, or perhaps a guarantee with bonus depending on turnout. Usatf charges X amount for materials and such and it's up to the host to cover that and all other expenses through registration fees. Anything leftover is profit, kept by the host or possibly distributed amongst instructors in some form. Bigger the turnout and cheaper your overhead (i.e. facility), the more you make to host/instruct at a level 1 school.

So is it like a Ponzi scheme? I mean, are you saying the instructors are responsible for securing a location, getting participants, etc, etc.
That’s not a Ponzi scheme.
