I don't like the idea of exposing people's intimate text messages. I guess you give up a sense of privacy when you are that well known. But this crap happens too much at the citizen level because people take their cues from events like these.
Given a part of his business is mining personal data and he owns a newspaper that would itself deem these details newsworthy, I guess it's fair game.
But how much of Amazon is about Jeff Bezos as a personality/celebrity or Jeff Bezos' business acumen and his product. I would say much more the latter. Do I actually care about his love life? I had the same reaction to Tiger Woods. I didn't care that he got freaky with it while married. My interest was watching him chip in on the 16th hole in the 4th round of the US Open.
My only interest about this would be as an investor, if this will disrupt the profitability of his businesses. Seems they have gone to great lengths to convince everyone it won't.
To my original question:
I think in 10 years, his wife has done very little more than sit on her fortune. Bezos won't stop testing boundaries and I think that will ultimately lead to enough failures that a passive approach to the fortune will win over an active one.
