Congrats to everyone on the Boston efforts on Monday. I am nowhere near 2:30 myself but have been following this thread as an inspiration and source of knowledge during my build up, a lot of good stuff in here.
Just wanted to acknowledge @BouldeRunner for this gem of a post, my splits were almost exactly like this for the race on Monday, goal pace was 6:32.
My slowest mile of the race was the first one in 6:52 (end of W1C3) , mile 2 at 6:35 so 3 sec slower for the 2 miles section than suggested (+3 sec).
Mile 16 6:23 , 17 6:45, 18 6:46, 2 sec faster for this 3 miles section than suggested (-2 sec).
Mile 20 6:41, 21 6:50, 3 sec faster for this 2 miles section than suggested (-3 sec).
Miles 22-26 6:31,6:35,6:36,6:28,6:23 2 sec faster for this 5 miles section than suggested (-2 sec).
I didn't want to push too hard too early and blow up after, so it's not as much in line for 22-24 but made it up on 25 and 26, still super close.
Funny thing is, I didn't remember exactly this post going in and definitely not during the race, just the general idea: first 2 miles settle in, don't worry a slow first mile, on pace through 16, don't overdo 16, hills on effort and then after 21 let it go. 10 sec positive split overall, maybe left some time on the course but passing so many runners on the hills, last 5 miles and running down Boylston at sub 6 pace felt amazing. I have copy pasted your post in my notes for my future self.
Hope that I'll get to join you in this quest one day, but just wanted to thank the posters of this thread for your knowledge and inspiration.
