i don't think it works that way. for one, you do realize that a mile is a longer race than 1500m, meaning it gets more and more difficult to maintain pace--not necessarily the difference between a 1500 and a 3k, but still, it's longer, and there should be a slow-down if you're doing both races right. second, if i delay my kick an run an even pace, then i come through around 3:45, not 3:42. now add 17 seconds. or even 15 seconds. whatever. it ain't sub-4. have any of you actually raced these distances? if el g and every other great miler conversion roughly follows the 1.08 formula (for the record, it's closer to 1.083 for him)--and that's a $#!+-ton of data--why do you think others would not?
