How fast do you think she'll go against a pro field? Sub 9:05?

He’s a kernel, show the man some respect.
Buckethead does the chicken
9:17 FTW in a very slow, tactical race
She won't allow it to go slow. She will finish 3rd in 9:01.
Oh so now the "Bernie bros" get a track meet! Where's the Hillary Clinton track meet?!!
""Women’s 3,000m: High school sensation Katelyn Tuohy of nearby North Rockland High School will follow up her historic cross country season that culminated in a second consecutive Nike Cross Nationals victory by taking on a professional field that includes Heather Kampf, a four-time U.S. champion in the road mile, and Amy-Eloise Neale, the runner-up at the 2017 NCAA cross country championships.""
I'm glad she is doing this meet instead of a HS invitational. I don't really see much reason for her to run HS meets except for States and those NB 'national championship' type events. Hoping she runs in pro races at Penn Relays and other events this spring as well.
She is running a 600 and 1000 this weekend. Good test of her speed early in the season. Agree no real point in running distance races against no competition.
I believe she is required to compete in a minimum number of HS meets to be eligible to compete at any State championship.
You just need to qualify for States - but rules differ across states. It usually involves running running a particularly fast time in a HS race and/or winning or placing in sectional qualifiers (this differs across states). I'm not sure what you need to do to qualify for NY HS indoor state champs - but sure many others on these boards know very well.
NYPHSAA does require a certain minimum number of meets or an injury waiver in order for an athlete to be eligible to compete in their sectional state qualifier meet which is the only avenue to qualify for the state championships. In the past that has been 6 meets and I presume it is again for the 2018-19 school year.

I think she over strides a little in the first 3rd of her races. She gets away with it because she is so strong and talented. I wish she'd pull it back a little as its the way to injury.
If she did, she'll have way more options in the latter part of the race. And make her a little faster over 1500. Don't know who her coach is, but she is tremendously strong but a little one dimensional right now. She's young, but needs to learn at this age. Right now she's just pounding her opposition.
I suspect the shorter work coming up is to improve her speed. But really its the way she sets up her races that is limiting her speed. She's over striding. Looks great on postcards, but not so good inn the long term.
