As you can tell from their names, they are Kalenjin: essentially the same people, with the same language and culture and an arbitrary border drawn by British colonialists separating them from the larger Kalenjin tribe on the Kenyan side. It’s inevitable that they’ll produce world-beating superstars, but we’re talking a much smaller pool (pop. 5 million in Kenya vs 180,000 in Uganda and < 20,000 in Tanzania). But Uganda will always factor: Think Eritrea with Tadese or Somalia with Mo Farah.
