sounds like a tasmanian devil
Russian troll. Same thing that's invaded your website.
Some of those sounds were sounds I've heard from a raccoon so I'd guess it's a raccoon. They can get snarly when they're fussing with another raccoon over food or whatever. I wouldn't worry about it.
Your 15-pound dog should be safe from foxes, but I would not let him outside unsupervised if you have coyotes in the area.

skunk or coon. Vicious little animals, but they sure are tasty.
Not a skunk. It sounds like a coyote or some type of dog.

Yes, and probably cancer and bird swine flu.
Sounds like a raccoon. Let it find its way out, then block it from entering again. Look around for food sources and eliminate them.
Alternatively, spend a hundred bucks and buy a large box trap that you'll use once and catch it and relocate it in your buddy's backyard.

Why do people trap animals that are holed up in their house? Just get them out and shut off the entrance hole.
If you are trapping skunk, put a blanket over the trap and you won't get sprayed. Take to a woods, open trap, and they will waddle away.
Sounds like a LRC troll lost its bridge so he is staying under your porch instead.
Or this:
It's a raccoon.
You'll want to trap it in something like this:
Then you'll definitely want to put it down. They are nothing but disease-carrying trouble. Since you live in the People's Republic, be careful with this step.
Told that Wada drug testers can make a big fuss when locked out.
You have responsibility to allow them in at any time of the day.
Whadda ya doin in Balto City, anyway?
Move to Colombia or Ellicott City, fer crissakes . The critters are well behaved there and so is the wildlife.
I believe the raccoon has squatters rights at this point so any attempt to remove it would require legal action. Or perhaps you are the squatter as ten generations ago his raccoon relatives owned and used this land and were never justly compensated for it. Just another internet mogul trying to be a neo-colonialist, like Mark Zuckerberg:

You should be ashamed of yourself.
might want to buy a bigger havahart than the one in the picture. i used one to catch a opossum and a striped skunk in my crawl space. it works but i have no idea what your animal is. might want to put out food and see if it leaves. then look for any holes. if you put wire out to seal any holes, place it flat instead of vertical and cover with dirt. they are probably searching for heat and can dig under vertical wire.
if it's a skunk and it's spotted , shoot it in the cage if you can as it will spray. if it is striped throw a blanket over the trap. then you can safely pick it up and take it to the woods. i read what to do on youtube and it worked. any wild animal is dangerous so when you release it get away. set the trap away from the house so you can move it easily. i made that mistake and had to drag the skunk in the trap overbushes rocks about 20' but it did not spray with the blanket over it. i released it about 1.5 miles away and it appeared to head for our home but guess it got lost. by the way, in our case the skunk ate its way though a flexible insulated hot air duck and made it's way into the main hot air duct ( 10" x 25") and i heard it running around in there. crazy.
Why do certain relatively tame posts keep disappearing from this thread? Why are conservatives such easily offended snowflakes these days?
Hopefully a mountain lion
Man up and take care of it. Either let whatever it is out or feed it a lead sandwich.

I've released two skunks like I posted earlier. Like I posted earlier, I did exactly what you described and was still sprayed. It was indirect spray because the tarp was in the way, so no blinding liquid in my eyes, but it did make me cough a little and my clothes took multiple washes to no drive people out of a room.

I think raccoon makes the most sense but why in the hell is it making that awful sound? Or is it making that sound as we're walking on the ground and it's underneath it and it think we are invading its home.
It is probably squabbling with another raccoon or other animal down there with it. It could be that it is upset with you walking. No way to know without seeing what it is doing.

My vet says that even though my dog is small, a fox is unlikely to mess with her unless he's really really desperate.
Do you all agree? I mean if I let her out back to go the bathroom, I"m normally watching her but she goes pretty far away. Should I follow her or is she safe during the day to explore for 5 minutes or so?
You have red foxes where you live, I think. They're fairly agressive as far as foxes go in terms of what they will try to catch and eat, but not really much bigger than your dog. I wouldn't expect them to attack your dog, the chances of themselves being injured is too high. They might try to get a cat. They definitely carry away chickens. They're also decent climbers, you'd be surprised what they can scale at almost a running pace.
Raccoons I would expect to ignore your dog because they tend to be lazy. But if your dog accidentally wandered too close to one or got into its face, the raccoon is definitely capable of ripping your dog apart quickly.
The chances of it happening vary a bit depending on the raccoons where you live (which is dependant on the habitat). Less densely populated suburbs tend to have more aggressive raccoons than dense inner city raccoons, just because of how easy it is for the dense inner city raccoons to find easy food. The inner city raccoons are more concerned with hiding all day and not being run over than finding food. The suburban raccoons need to range a bit farther and usually are more used to squabbling with dogs to steal their dog food.
Outdoor dog and cat food is the worst thing you can do if you are concerned about raccoons, btw.
Here is an example of how aggressive raccoons can be if they feel threatened:

Also, Rojo, this dog is bigger than your dog and is an example of a dog attacked by a raccoon. Notice how the dog is basically worthless at fighting back. If the guy hadn't helped, the dog probably would have been severely injured or killed. They'll both (human and dog) need painful rabies shots after this, unless they want to roll the dice
