Of course you are not a slowly hobbyjogger, ( definition is for people that NEVER run faster than 6'/km (and anyway they are still doing something very very good from a phisiological point of view, try to run for two hours at 6'/km and the benefit
for cardiovascoular system are huge and you will burn also a lot of fat). 17' 15 for 5k is not so much different from 16' or even 15' . In any case you are not at a National level so people that are faster than you they dont have to call you hobbyjogger
or look at you with superiority complex. Running is not soccer , in running there are times that put everyone in his own place
for what it worth. But times need also to look the age of the runner. Doing 17'15" at +50 years old is a lot different that do it
at 25 years old. Anyway when you love what you are doing , and you do the best you can in training and in races. You end up to be always a winner. I know many runners with , let's say some good talent, ( not pro) and they are like 1h18" in the half
but with 40km a week (with a coach). and with long break (3months) from running during the summer. Every year they come back in september and in november they run 35' in 10k and 1h18' with no more than 40k a week . training 3 times a week.
Here you have an example of somebody that with 90-100km a week can easily go run a half in 1h13 1h14.
You have some talent but you dont train enough to maximize it. Is like if you have a beautiful wife but you never make love with her. There's an italian quote that say " Chi ha il pane non ha i denti" "Who has bread has no teeth" , and the meaning is that those who have something we'd want to have (bread) don't know how to use it , or they dont take advantage of it.
