Give me A Muppet Christmas Carol over Scrooged every single time.
This^^^. Muppet Christmas Carol combined the best aspects of It’s A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol and somehow combined them into something even better. It genuinely lifts my spirits like no other Christmas movie.
Scrooged on the other hand is a miserable affair. Watching Bill Murray play a dry, unfunny a$$hole for two hours with far too little comic relief is not my idea of entertainment, even if it’s Bill Murray.
While You Were Sleeping. A family favorite. Sandra Bullock, Peter Gallagher and Bill Pullman in their primes.
I was not aware that Scrooged was underrated. I think it has been rated quite a bit.

I vote for Scrooged. Bill Murray is fantastic, great twist on an old classic, and the girl from Raiders of the Lost Arc is sneaky hot.
How is it never mentioned in “best Christmas movie” lists?
Gremlins.

"Slate" had an article about how "Three Days of the Condor" should qualify as a Christmas movie., mainly because of something in the final scene that isn't even crucial to the plot. That's extremely arguable, but it's a great movie.
The article also mentioned that "Three Days of the Condor" and that other putative Christmas movie, "Die Hard," were shown as a December double-feature at Quentin Tarantino's theatre for several years.
Although I've never thought of it as a "Christmas movie," "Three Days of the Condor" refers to Christmas at various points throughout the movie, and it's not merely coincidental and inconsequential; the gaiety of Christmas parties, carols, decorations, and gift-giving contrasts with the social isolation of the protagonist and the deadly pursuits of the hitmen and intelligence officers in the film. And I do think it can qualify as underrated by many; even the director himself, Sydney Pollack, expressed some puzzlement about its enduring appeal to its rather small group of ardent fans (including me). I love the movie.
Among films that are undoubtedly classifiable as "Christmas movies," my favorite is probably "Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol," which seems generally underappreciated by or unknown to modern audiences. It's both touching and funny, and it has some excellent original songs.
