Jeeze no mention of black actors yet?
I thought these 2 would be at the top of anybody's list.
Morgan Freeman
Denzel W.
Denzel Washington is an excellent actor, but his range is limited. He plays himself. He's always the a***hole who is a hero inspite of himself. He does a***hole as well as anybody including Jack Nicholson.
Morgan Freeman, besides being a despicable human being (read about his family life), is just not a great actor.
If you want to list great black actors, then Forrest Whittaker is obviously on the list, and Samuel L. Jackson gets much less credit as an actor than he deserves. Also Don Cheadle is a very solid actor with a lot of range.
And of course Eddie Murphy is among the great comic actors of all time.

Is it literally me or does Morgan Freeman remind me of Haile Gebresalasse? Something about them. Could be charisma.
Alan Bates
Katherine Hepburn
Maggie Smith
De Niro
Meryl Streep
John Thaw

Samuel L. Jackson - name one movie he hasn't shouted in?
Surprised no one has mentioned Christopher Waltz of Tarentino fame.....and Tarentino himself.
Chris Plummer in Silent Partner for a change of pace. John Candy's first movie.
What about Alex Guinness and all those other Brits of that era with RADA voices?
Rich Attenborough in 10 Rillington Place?

Obviously, this is fairly subjective, so I'll leave it to the experts. Those who've won the triple crown of acting would make the list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Crown_of_Acting. Excellence in live theater would be a prerequisite for me.
Yes but, off subject, who won this triple crown PLUS and grammy PLUS a Pulitzer.
Actually two people have.

I like the pick of Robin Williams.
The range from Mrs Doubtfire to One Hour Photo.
He played opposite Pacino in Insomnia and carried the movie.
I enjoyed in Cadillac Man as a car salesman.
Dead Poet’s Society and Good Will Hunting were his most critically acclaimed roles.
Garp was a crazy role.
Thought of as a comedic actor but tremendous in dramatic movies.
Talent. Great acting ability.
Don't forget Awakening
And The Fisher King.
My vote goes to great actor and even greater crusader for rights of sexual minorities Kevin Spacey.
Best supporting actor. Highly underrated.

Somebody was dissing Tom Cruise who I generally detest, but he was brilliant in Magnolia, and he delivered the greatest performance on film of all time with his short role in Tropic Thunder.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it... :-)
I think Tom Cruise peaked, in Taps, 1981.
Don’t forget A Few Good Men.
Not a Tom Cruise fan, but he was pretty good in "Born on the 4th of July."
Tom Cruise was excellent in Collateral and Edge of Tomorrow is a very underrated SciFi movie. Other than that I'm not a huge fan of his.

I like both of those guys, but they always tend to play the same type of role. Freeman is the older wiser type and Denzel is kind of always the hero type.
I’d give the nod to Denzel for range a bit over Freeman.
I probably should have mentioned Forrest Whittaker. Far more versatile.
Denzel had better range he can play 'white' roles

Those two are okay but Wesley Snipes is the best actor EVER!!!
