Sure the usual names always come up. Day-Lewis, Oldman, Streep etc. But i want to know who makes your list?
Let me know!

Christopher Plummer. Every kind of role: Sound of Music/Pink Panther/Dolores Claiborne/Dragnet/Star Trek 6 (as a Shakespeare-quoting Klingon vs his old understudy William Shatner).
Laurence Olivier
Lindsay lohan
Hayden Christensen
Maybe not the greatest of all time but definitely should be mentioned: (yes, they're all Brits)
Pete Postlethwaite
Alan Rickman
John Thaw
Bill Nighy
Rod Steiger
Excuse me, but how about CHUCK FREAKING NORRIS!!! Ever heard of that guy?
Christian Bale
Dustin Hoffman
Chalieze Theron (from Uber glamorous to monster in one film)
Edward Norton
Gary Oldham
Merryl Streep

This. Can’t believe that’s him in Vice.
Also Health Ledger, RIP.
Also Robin Williams. Watch a TV Show like Mork and Mindy and then watch Good Will Hunting. Few actors can pull off both comedic and serious rolls.
Alan
Johnny Depp. So versatile
Linda Lovelace
Jeeze no mention of black actors yet?
I thought these 2 would be at the top of anybody's list.
Morgan Freeman
Denzel W.
Leonardo DiCaprio

Morgan Freeman
Denzel W.
I like both of those guys, but they always tend to play the same type of role. Freeman is the older wiser type and Denzel is kind of always the hero type.
I’d give the nod to Denzel for range a bit over Freeman.
I probably should have mentioned Forrest Whittaker. Far more versatile.

Well if that's the criteria for selecting acting greatness I vote for Andy Serkis.
The obvious guys:
Robert DeNiro
Sean Penn
Jack Nicholson
Jessica Lange
Robert Duvall
Al Pacino
Bridget Fonda (not Jane!)
Peter Sellers
Michael Caine
Gene Hackman
Dustin Hoffman
Peter O'Toole
Merly Streep
Joe Pesci
Charles Laughton
Laurence Olivier
Max Von Sydow
Donald Sutherland
Anthony Hopkins
Good names so far. If we’re talking lead actors, here’s my top ten:
Duvall
Day-Lewis
Nicholson
DiCaprio
Freeman
Cruise
DeNiro
Williams
Hanks
Hopkins
