Beatles - "Something New" and the "White Album".
Lou Reed - "Rock and Roll Animal".
Rolling Stones - "Let it Bleed".
Simon and Garfunkle - "Bookends" and The Sounds of Silence".
Yes - "Close to the Edge" and "Yessongs".
Genesis - "The Wind and the Wuthering".
I could go on and on. Looks like, at least in my view there is no ONE best album.

Enjoyable albums, but best? Pistols for best album? Have you listened to those very simple songs? It’s The Ramones and Stooges. It’s not even as complex as the Dolls.
I thought the thread was for GREATEST.
Exile, yes possibly. Electric Ladyland maybe. Kind of Blue or A Love Supreme maybe. But Master of Puppets?!
Come, on. Higher standards please.
Dark Side of the Moon
Joshua Tree
Kid A
Traffic - Mr. Fantasy
The Wall
Agree, it's next to impossible to list just one. I submit for your consideration:
Moondance- Van Morrison
Please Please Me- Beatles
Brothers in Arms-Dire Straits
John Barleycorn Must Die - Traffic
Who's Next- Who (And I don't even like the who!)
I don't think Best of albums should count, but if so, it would be hard to get by: Bob Marley-Legends
Who's Next and Led Zeppelin 4 are remarkable in that every song on each album is great. What other albums can one say that about?
Maybe not "The Best", but definitely my favorite wrote:

+1. Saw them live in 1984, as best as I can remember.
1984 or 1985 at a little college bar. Seems like Swimming Pool Qs were the opener.
John Denver Christmas album with guests Glen Campbell Kenny Rogers and Kid Rock.
Staying true to the OP, I’m nominating only one best album of all time: Kind of Blue
Runners up, keeping in mind the whole album not a few good songs:
Thriller
Rumors
The Wall
Dark Side of the Moon
Blood on the Tracks
