Breaking 20 is a short term goal, I think I might be able to achieve it within a year. I would like to get to sub 18 or at least sub 19 but I’m thinking I will need a pretty large base to get there.
I’m not a fan of this “if youre slow you shouldnt run a lot” attitude that letsrun has, I know I will most likely never be competitive but I love running and it takes up a large part of my life in the sense that I think about it a lot, ai desire to improve a lot and I would be more than willing to build up to high miles. I think that physiologically I could handle it, my muscles and bones are quite strong.
But what I am wondering is would it be sensible to build up to 60 mpw over the next few months like this:
1 month at 30 mpw
1 month at 40 mpw
1 month at 50 mpw
1 month at 60 mpw
And then maintain the 60 mpw for a few months? I am aware that building up to high miles (70-80+) takes quite a bit of time.
