As I'm sure you know....we have absolutely no idea without relevant information, which you know what that is already, so why did you not provide it to start with ? Eyeroll.

The chances will varying greatly depending on your speed in shorter distances. In other words, was that 2:37 a death march of a sub-15:00 5K runner, or a near sprint extended over 26 miles of a 18:00 5K runner? If the former, the chances of an OTQ are much better because all you need to do is develop marathon endurance, which is usually very trainable. If it is the latter, this is a much tougher case, because top end speed, even the slow twitch component of it, is much much more difficult to train. Sometimes 5K performance improves a lot with marathon mileage, so even if you are slow in the 5 K, if you are lucky in this department, you might have a decent shot.
Regardless, do not give up. Let's say all you can get after years of training is 2:30, or maybe even "only" 2:35. You will know you've tried and did not give up. You will be able to tell your children and grandchildren that you did not give up, and this will encourage them to not give up in their own pursuits.
I'm in the same boat as the OP. I'm a sub-2:40 male in my mid-20s. I'm not going to kid myself with 2:18:59 but I am going to keep training and keep trying to get faster. I don't know what the ceiling is but I'd like to find out. There are plenty of good stories like what we saw with some of the BTC club guys at CIM this year. I don't think there are many that go from 2:37 to 2:19:00. Usually people are more talented so stick with the sport because they've found success by running 2:20s or better right out of the gate. There isn't much in the sport for a 2:37 guy but I like the running community I've surrounded myself with and I like to push myself. Read up on Peter Bromka's journey. He went from the 2:40s to the 2:30s to the 2:20s to 2:19 now. He was a d3 runner I believe and came back to running a little more seriously when he started doing marathons. There's hope though. Even if you get to the next barrier and crack 2:35 or 2:30 that's pretty cool.
I tried and couldn’t do it.
It requires more discipline and patience than I have.
2:19 is not elite time but it requires far more natural ability than the average runner. Focus on 10K road races and when you run around 30:00 give it a shot.

I agree with Aztec. My gut tells me OP has run many 'thons the past 11 years. In that scenario he won't get down to 2:19, irregardless of the new training regime.
Don't $sh!t on people brah, SDSU is trash.
how'd you figure out how to use a keyboard?
@OP yes
you'll need to buy the Nike Vaporfast 13% garunteed to take at least 18 minutes off a 2 hours 37 minutes marathon with my referral link.
pm me 300$ and I'll give you it very fast
Just sign up for CIM. My great aunt in a wheelchair could qualify for the trials at that race.
No you don’t.
You ain’t getting jack for travel if you run 2:19.
You only get expenses if you’re under 2:15.
You still ain’t making the team.
