... and is apparently married too.
I don't blame her for keeping this underwraps considering how she delivered the baby early due to health complications. Why deal with all of the additional stress of being in the public eye while being worried about your first-born being 8 weeks premature? It could have been a worse pregnancy situation and I'm sure she has good neonatal medical coverage for her daughter. I hope their daughter continues on a healthy growth track and gets out of the NICU soon.
Best wishes for her, Kenneth Ferguson and Camryn, fighters all.
I didn't even know she got married. Googling around I couldn't find much on it either. A few articles saying she was secretly married in 2016.
Is that the case?
Pretty sure it was quietly announced that she was married a few years back. The pregnancy was surprising. Happy she's healthy!
Good luck to her and Camryn!
Robert and I were born 6 weeks early and weighed 3 lbs so in my book Camryn's in good company. Plus, the medicine is a lot more sophisticated. As she noted premature babies often will just stop breathing. When that was the case a monitor would go off and the nurse would come up and pull on a pencil that was tied to a string tied around our leg. Our leg would jerk up and we'd start breathing again. I'm sure the technology is way more advanced now.

You have a really good memory!! I can barely remember when I learned to walk, and stopped nursing.

So much has just been cleared up here.
I have identical twin daughters born 6 weeks early and my little brother has identical twin boys born 7 weeks early (50% of twins are born premature). My daughters spent a week in the NICU (they were 4# 9oz and 5# 7oz respectively), my nephews spent a month in the NICU. It's tough as a parent to see your child struggling, but ultimately there is great care available and most make it through without many issues. That being said, some do not [JFK's son Patrick Kennedy (the first child born to a sitting US president) died from IRDS, which one of my daughters had. Luckily they have better ways to deal with that today]. In general girls do much better than boys. Thoughts and prayers to Allyson and her new little girl.
I feel for her as my son was also born at at 32 weeks and weighed in at 3lbs 11oz. We lucky had no issues and he only spent a month in the hospital. Add in the two weeks my wife was hospitalized before hand its just a tough situation. It used to frustrate me how some parents never seemed to be there. I just couldn’t understand that.
8 weeks premature is a "grower and feeder" these days. Felix has over-dramatized the situation and the users here on the boards don't know either. Baby will go home after 4 weeks with some very minor concerns.
The difference between a 4 week preemie and an 8 week preemie is the 4 week will need a few days to demonstrate growth & feeding, the 8 week will take a couple weeks to be ready to try feeding.
The difference between an 8 week and a 12 week is vast and the difference between a 12 week and a 16 week is 50% mortality with another 50% of survivors suffering morbidity.

yes there’s a big difference for sure but doesn’t change how a parent feels and not all babies have the same struggles. I met many parents in worse situations than mine born at 32wks etc.

Sometimes babies that young just stop breathing... but they're finding a way to keep going and it's so inspiring.
Nice pun, Allyson.
OMG! I read the thread title as "Allyson Felix is a Man". LOL!

re: "Felix has over-dramatized the situation "
I don't get it; exactuly what are you saying.
My first kid was born with jaundice, a farily common and treatable thing, but I prayed for him everyday as if he needed open heart surgery. When it comes to pregnancy and childbirth, there in nothing a new Mom does that I consider "over-dramatized".
