Speaking of billionaires: If this is a make-or-break issue for Trump he could guarantee his re-election if he pledges a billion of his own money.
Trump is only worth about $3 billion. He is not going to donate one-third of his wealth. Nobody would donate such a great percentage.
I think it would be a problem for him to find that kind of liquid wealth even if he wanted to donate it.
Why should anyone believe if he pledged any amount of money? He already promised he'd build it and Mexico would pay for it.
Who cares if he donates $1bn anyway. It has been estimated to cost tens of billions.

This is not going anywere. The $$$ have peaked. They might reach $ 20 Million in a couple of month. But up to $1.0B, never.
$16,540,965 of $1.0B goal
The funding problem has been solved: Trump is going to use "Shutdown Money" and just signed a 115-mile long contract.

I'm not sure it will get that high. My totally unscientific estimate is that 50% of the total donations are now in. So $30M is my guess.
My original post was on the 22nd. Now, two days later, the fund is at $16.5M and 270K donors. So the increase in the past 2 days is just $1.5M and 20K donors. This drop off is quicker than I thought but it may also be because of Christmas. However, I'm going to revise my target down to $25M. I can't see it getting higher than that.
We should start a book going on how much it will raise. Maybe the winner can get a bag of cement.
It won't go higher than $24m.
Bump
Can't believe nobody remembers Mexico are going to pay for this! lolz

I think the main point was wall.
If I donate, does my name or something gets engraved into one of the bricks?
I don’t think they’re using bricks, the wall is being built out of Trump’s shattered dreams.
Meanwhile another “illegal” child dies in custody. Didn’t know 7-year-olds could do anything illegal.

A big beautiful wall, paid for by Mexico, would have allowed those children to die in Mexico rather than becoming an American peoblem. Build the wall!
You'd have to be REALLY dumb to pay into this scam. Apparently there are 300k really dumb people with disposable funds.

Trump's rabid base is quit small. Just like his hands. Just like his Tiny unit.

Well... the best gofundme campaign to date (Time's up...) which is targeted to the people on the left only had 22K contributors in one year ($22.1 million). So I'm not sure if 283K contributors in 9 days ($17.2 million) is considered small in the gofundme universe.

283,000 donors out of 60,000,000 Trump voters is a rather small show of appreciation for Trump — a less than 0.5% show of force.

To have only a fraction of people clueless enough to donate to a scam seems like a victory to me.

What is the objective? Is the objective to be the biggest gofundme campaign or is it to raise enough money to build the wall? Tens of billions are required. Raising tens of millions is a joke at the expense of Trump (it's just an embarrassing reminder of his broken promises and his failure to negotiate and persuade) . SAD!

The fund raised $7M during the first 3 days or 2.3M per day. During the last week it has raised $2M or $286K per day which represents an 87% decrease in the daily rate. It now seems that even reaching $20M will be difficult, which is a little bit less than the stated goal of $1B. If the money is returned to the donors, they will lose about 3% on their contributions.

Please explain as I get 87% as well.
