I think you are right except that it's a terrible perspective. That's not why Mid Major's "suck," it's why they are good in that way. And yes, it's equal to win your conference whether its D1 or D3 but that's because it's the nature/challenge of the job. Agreed that no one really cares about the P5 conference either, but at least those schools are funded in a way that they have a realistic competitive chance in Division 1. The mid-majors have no competitive standing other than the once-every-5 -years kid (singular) who can make the national meet. Arkansas Little Rock is not competing against Arkansas in any legitimate way, but the lowest D3 school can become competitive nationally with only nominal support. That (and the other reasons listed previously) is why mid-majors suck.
