Wow. They hired a notorious drug cheat. She was busted in the 90's a few times. It's a big deal because she was still a big name then and of course was the overall NCAA record holder, and if I remember correctly, was totally and completely unrepentant about being busted. Thought she had faded into the woodwork, guess not.

If this is so well known, I suppose you would provide proof? Or maybe keep making things up you degenerate.

Nope. You're wrong.
Unless you have incontrovertible proof of this, you should apologize.
Easy search found this one without looking at all the different lists. There are multiple lists out there for all the different organizations. It's from 25 years ago when she was in her prime. This one is from the ARRS site which lists all the performances that have been rejected for Drug Disqualifications. Lot of road racers on that list throughout the years. Anyway, just wanted to put this out there to show that guy wasn't wrong, wasn't making it up, and shouldn't have to apologize for a fact that is easily searchable.

p.s. I looked this up because I remembered it being a big deal when I was in high school. I remember the old Cal Track and News doing a story on it, but I have no idea if those are archived on line.
I’m way less bothered by her drug use than I was by her god-awful racing tactics I was subjected to watching over the years.
That isn't a definitive source.
Not sure if it's been posted yet, but Taylor University (NAIA) is looking for a new head cross country coach.
They're a decent little program (finished 16th in the nation last year) with some notable past coaches (David Neville and others). Word on the street is the prior coach notified the AD that he'd be stepping down in early February and for some reason the coaching job was just posted one week ago. None of the runners have any clue what is going on and the whole thing is kinda strange. There were rumors that the men's and women's programs would combine under Quinn White (the girls coach), but as of right now nothing is official. Taylor would definitely be a nice destination for some up and coming coaches (that is if they don't mind living in the middle of nowhere).
Don’t think it’s a lack of funding. Last guy was fired cuz he can’t recruit or win.
Get off LetsRun and get to work Sylvia. You have plenty of it cut out for you.

Wake Forest Sprints/Hurdles/Jumps/Multis
A recent study by Division I AD's revealed that over 40% of the track and cross country jobs open in a 5 year span were part-time or volunteer. The average pay for the low paid ones (excluding volunteer positions) was $16,437. Yet everyday, every year about this time this thread is full of posters who think gaining one of these positions is their "dream job."
There are less than 50 decent (where pay equals or exceeds median pay for those with Bachelors degree) paying head jobs in D1 and less than 100 decent paying assistant coaching positions and half of those are non-distance yet its the distance jobs that draw the most intense interest.
Then once someone is in one of these coveted positions they face an onslaught of libel and slander that approaches a Trump tweet storm. Why in the hell does anyone want to be subjected to that for so little pay and appreciation?
I lucked into 4 D1 jobs, 1 head position and 3 assistant positions with 2 in Power 5 leagues. Coached many All-Americans and Olympians and won team conference titles. Had a chance to coach some wonderful people and outstanding athletes but reality is that making it a career means sacrificing family and personal life to a degree that is obsessive compulsive or narcissistic. You spend your life sacrificing everything to help others and one day you wake up and go who in this rat race is concerned about MY well-being?
Track is better at all other levels when it comes to coaching than D1. I have done virtually all and have close friends who have shared experiences across various levels and we all say the same. D1 is the worst representation of our sport from middle school to professional.
This job was posted and closed last December!

Amen to whoever Anotherbrickinthewall is. What they wrote should be posted as the quote of the day on letsrun. So much truth to it.

That's why D1 isn't the dream. I seriously laugh at all these anonymous poster when ask "anyone have insight on the job or front runners" like if they have a shot or if that's a dream opportunity to get. d1 isn't the dream or living. It sacrifices personal health and well being, and like 'anotherbrickinthewall' said borderline narcissistic.
You can win XYZ championships, but years of XYZ losing seasons and you get cut lose. For what.. for 30-40k for a "d1" job just to say you're a d1 coach. Same as to what I say kids I recruit. They are a 1:56/4:25/9:45 kid for example..saying they are only going d1 and they go to a lower tier crappy school..just to say they are d1 runners.
I coach a Juco school.. great setup 2 year school, kids in and out.. and more than the majority of kids are going d1. And guess what.. I make more than 60k in a low cost of living area at that. If you want to coach and make a difference do it where you can truly do that and make a good living. Why take a 30k job just to be d1

How little does UNCA pay?
And how desperate is Williamson for a job?
