Good point. There’s a guy at UAB Tuscaloosa volunteering and he seems perfectly happy. I think he plans on retiring there.

Add Fresno State distance coach position. It should open soon.

Good grief! How do these volunteer coaches have money to live on? A woman isn't going to support a zero-earning guy forever!
What good throws jobs are opening? Cal, miss state, and Michigan are possibilities. Airforce is an ok gig as far as pay/benefits. What else is rumored to be shuffling?

I believe the thoughts of some of these volunteers is that if they hang around the program things may shake up so they can get elevated to a paid position. It happens but not often, especially if the shake up is at the top. You get used to being apart of a P5 team, the stigma and success of the program can lure you to hang around too long, or find a decent paying job that can work around your volunteering/traveling duties.
Possible greatest example is winder at ncc, has coached about 20 ncaa champions. Several 18 footers and over a dozen 17+ guys from a d3 program.

He wanted to coach his sons though. Sure he turned down many offers along the way!
Can we stop the volunteer talk and get back on track (no pun) with PAID openings
Okay... Here you go Bam! Wham! Pow!

Jerry’s top shot putter is on the transfer portal. Wouldn’t be surprised it means the odds of Jerry getting miss state is pretty high
What happened with Molnar at Austin Peay? Been there a while. Women just finished a respectable 3rd in the OVC. Trouble? Cross with the AD? Seemed like a good dude.

Yes I have volunteered for the last 2 years at a D1 program. Just trying to get some paid experience now
You are looking at the wrong time. Best way to get a paying job is in the middle of the season when someone gets fired and the team needs a replacement coach ASAP. Everyone else under contract during the season, so more losers ... ah volunteers ... get a real job that way!
Molnar has had a lot of issues and was even suspend for some time and was even punished so bad they reduced his pay for a year.
Who the heck are you talking about? Don’t be vague, be honest and give names. Don’t believe this is the case for any University of Alabama Volunteer.
P.s. No one calls it UAB Tuscaloosa
What's the scoop on Macalester?

I think he's graduating early and looking into his options. Nothing more, nothing less.
I would say so.
Will Navy combine programs with the recent retirements? Probably be better for the program to be a combine track team, but the service academies have large enough rosters to justify cross country coaches for each gender.
I don’t know anything about our service academies but I assume there’s rigorous physical requirements and training within the academy alone, how do track and other sport coaches for they matter train their kids effectively if they have a whole nother plate of physical training to do on top of athletics
