I will go as far as saying that this is the most absurd hire I’ve ever seen.

Cue the complaining that the most qualified person for the job took it......

Robyne Johnson from Boston U? And Vin lanlanna, former Oregon coach?
Why the hell would Vin go from being an AD at Oregon to the President of USATF to then be the head coach at Cal?? No
It’s between Robyne and Khadvis and I believe KD will get the nod. From what I’ve heard from inner circles he’s wanted to be a HC for some time.
OMG. Did Oklahoma really sign off on this distance coach hire? Just shows the "interim" head coach is as clueless as the administration. And please don't give me she has paid her dues. Completely not qualified for the job.

As long as Jalen Hurts keeps playing the way he did against Houston. Oklahoma admin will sign off on anything the interim head coach wants to do.
I can't believe they hired this person. Her greatest accomplishment at her previous post was fielding a complete team with 7 runners...... WTF

Who do you think they could actually get? They already interviewed everyone they could find this summer and no one would take it. Now consider that the program is in disarray, their only top distance athlete worth anything is getting the hell out of dodge and they have no permanent director...who in their right mind would take that job is IS qualified?!

Everyone...really? From what I could gather, that interview process was nowhere close to thorough. The sprint coach hire was good, but now he has is taking over something he wasn't hired to do.
I know everyone will roast this comment, but:
UVA will see less success under Lanana than under Fetz.
Vin is going to sink all scholarships into sub elite distance runners and fail to compete with the big dogs doing the same scholarship model.
Fetz built UVA into a field event powerhouse and was racking up all Americans.
Give this hire a couple years and you’ll see a washed up Vin focusing on administrating and not winning.
UVA was probably the only school willing to make him a Director/AD and that program will suffer for it.
But in reality, it’s track and field, and no one cares outside of this message board.
Sad day for the hoos...

Someone isn't in the know...whatever happened with Kevin Ondrasek, betcha he's laughing his a$$ off right now...
I heard Stanford still hasn’t hired a throws coach. What is going on? Will they just abandon their minority female search and open to other candidates at this point? This has truly been the summer of unqualified female minority hires. OU just takes the cake.
Oh please. A few women are receiving a miniscule amount of opportunity and actually very few minority women. If you're a convention attendee, just look around...there's ample represention of the male gender. He hired someone he could trust...considering the circumstances.

Go try posting a job where you have to hire a black female. You will get 80% of the applications from white males, 18% from black males and white females, and 2% from black females.
Black female candidates do not suffer from an unequal opportunity. The OUTCOME is not equal because the interest level is just not as widespread.
So if you want to hire a black female to provide representation and mentoring that better serves your team, the likelihood that you will get the very best qualified and experienced coach from only 2% of the applicant pool is low.
wrong.
