Great hire, terrible place
Low key distance coach announcement in a posting for a race a week away. If this is the first time schools are hearing about this, they probably aren’t showing up.
The course map is amazing. Wow. Blown away by the preparation and effort. The new head coach's resume is concerning. How did this person get hired?

Job is posted. Candidates are screened and interviewed. AD decides whom is the ideal candidate based on his criteria and critic of their resumes. The AD offered a coach the position. She accepted. This is how she got hired!

"Coordinator: Tony Filipek (Western Michigan University Assistant XC/Track & Field Coach)"
She hires the recent assistant coach from Lake Superior state. Western Mich will be going down hill from here
Exactly what part of the hill was it on to begin with?

What is the difference between the “meet director” and meet “coordinator”?
So Illinois Springfield now has three distance coaches? Head Coach, Tyler Pence, and now Sarah? ??♂️

Tyler Pence is the head coach so there are just 2 coaches. The previous head coach left.
any word out of Drake for womens distance/XC?

She meet TWO hiring criteria: gender + race.
AD looks good in the eyes of Human Resources. HR doesn't care about the lack of coaching experience.
So the African-American women on the Western Michigan track team screamed and yelled last year that they wanted a minority coach and vigorously complained about the white male coach who had been there for many years. Western Michigan hires a African-American female associate AD. She only speaks to African-American candidates but has trouble finding someone to take the job. She finally finds the woman they just hired. Athletes are now happy that they have an African-American female coach. That is how it happened. Now Western Michigan women track athletes have gotten what they wanted and have to improve their performances. Good luck to them. HR is very happy with the athletic department.
Nate Arnold and Jarius Cooper listed on Stanford website now along with Ricardo Santos
