then they should specify she is the DIRECTOR of XC/track and will focus on the throws events as opposed to the label of head coach
The head coach of XC coaches XC with an assistant(s) and should have some clue about distant running
The director of the program who is a throws coach or a sprint coach - hires a Head coach for XC
I’d rather have her coach XC than the kid they hired
Did they actually hire anyone? Who?

Yes she is head coach. Head Coach of the entire program. She will just hire a distance coach. Same as when a head coach is a distance coach and hires a jumps, sprints and throws coach. No different to when a head football coach is a defensive guy and he hires a running backs coach or receivers coach.
You distance guys are idiots......yes you Bucking bronco.......idiot

That is if and only if, they choose to give the XC the glorified title of “Head Coach”. Which some programs don’t. Regardless of title, the XC is still nothing more than an assistant in this case. So it matters not what you call them. She’s the Head Coach of the entire program and therefore has full control. The XC coach in this case will coach and leave it at that. It’s not as if they have any real control or power when they have that “Head Coach” label. Get over yourself.

Is that actually confirmed by members of the Stanford team? Must be Santos right? This guy has hit the lottery twice as far as I am concerned. Iona from Mick, pro gig and now Stanford!

No kidding, is there any indication he is a good coach?

Being a good coach doesn't get you good coaching jobs.

That is what I said. Who cares what her title is. She is running the program. HC or Director. She is the Head Coach and the person she hires or appoints to coach XC can be anyone.
You are wrong for saying a Director hires a Head Coach for XC. They can call whomever whatever title they want. Ultimately they are an assistant coach to the head coach, who is responsible for long distance in the fall for 5 races on the course.
If the new head coach at Western Michigan wants to coach distance or throws or sprints, that's her call.
Santos to Stanford confirmed by BAA
Santos is confirmed by BAA brass as leaving for Stanford. This guy keeps falling up.
So I heard from strong sources Whittsley, Gerard, Gary, Gibby, and a couple other coaches pushed hard to be considered for cross country position and Santos gets hired.
Did some of these others at least turn J.J. down? I think any of those four would be way better (especially Gibby)!
So, is it true that JJ called Mick for a name and he recommends Santos?
Come on, this is not right, neither Mick or Santos can coach and develop american kids, if not for the Aussie last year who knows if Mick is still at Stanford. They both live off of foreign talent. Stanford gets the best American kids, should be interesting.
Villanova hired Pete Koumlelis as throws coach. Announcement coming soon. Former UMBC throw coach.

Foreign athletes run just like american kids. Recruit what makes the most sense for where you are. If foreign athletes are improving he'll be able to get americans to improve. If foreign kids come in great and don't get better, he won't be developing american kids either.
Not sure if this was announced previously

Brothers gotta stick tagetha!
I’m not so sure USF is hiring a full time throws coach. Maybe a GA or volunteer.
