What’s going on at Western Illinois? I applied for the assistant position coaching distance. Can they get better than they are with the current head coach? Well funded? Who was the outgoing distance XC coach?

Would be an odd move for this time of year. I have my doubts. But doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen.
Why should it happen?
The skinny community don't like that the XC team has been weak and they don't have a distance coach on staff

Speaking of Ondrasek, word on the street is VanHootegem is out at OU.
What street is that exactly?
Does anyone know what happened to the Chattanooga assistant? Do they have anyone in the pipeline for chattanooga?
As suspected; Vance out and jav coach takes over throws. Keith Vance land anywhere, or is he staying in Colorado?
Not sure what the dynamics are for the distance guy. Announcement made it seem like he was already there last year. Maybe they are just trying to find a way to pay him a little more.

I'd say so. Nike 20k raise from 35k to 55k/year now. +/-2000 roughly. This guy made out.
What is WKU doing with their staff?
Who cares? They are irrelevant with that new head coach. Erik won over 25 in 10 years against good teams. Looked back and this guy won 0 in 10+ years at Radford. We all know that conference is stacked....... There had to be better applicants!
It’s called failing up!

Any word on his reason? Leaving for another position?
“After 29 years in NCAA track and field, I feel it is a good time to step away,“ VanHootegem said. “Track and field will always be home base for me, but I'd like to take some time to work in private coaching where I can share what we do in our sport with athletes and coaches across a variety of sports.
this doesn'tnt sound like a resignation....
OU athletes are started to be added to the transfer portal.
Imagine firing half of your staff, be too incompetent to hire a distance coach, designate an assistant throws coach as the interim distance coach, and give a bs statement saying your “resigning” to pursue other coaching opportunities with the XC season being a week old.

I hear a lot of the OU distance guys are trying to transfer to the Farm since they really like coach Ondrasek. We have a full roster but some room might open up if some of our guys are grabbed off the portal. Stay tuned.
Sounds like everyone is staying and he will just hire a new coach. Probably best just to take it all down.
Took them this long to hire someone with no head coaching experience....
It sounds(?) like he might be have something planned with Vince Anderson who I think is a close friend and has indicated he is not going to be coaching at the collegiate level.
