i realize you can rack up a bunch of points with throws but how many throws coaches out there direct a XC and track program?

King University (D2) in Bristol, TN used to be a good program. I think they went to nationals a few years in a row. I’ve heard the AD just doesn’t care and just wants yes men
I phone interviewed with the AD, and a few others. The impression that I got was that they are a very religious school, and that they wanted a particular type of coach that fit with their program, as well as someone that would bring in a large number of recruits to grow the roster, rather than caring about the performance of the team. It looks like they made their hire based on those priorities.
I believe her skill sets in other disciplines exceeds the typical throws coach.

I hear what you're saying. Can't figure out how hiring a coach with zero recruiting experience helps them bring in large numbers of recruits, though.

Not enough IMO. In my experience throws coaches--throwers in general--don't have as many BS artists as other event groups.

And no, I have not been primarily a throws coach in my coaching career, nor was I primarily a thrower as a competitor.
Big 10 loses a sprint coach, ACC gains one.
I'll leave it to the schools announce it officially.
This one will prompt some discussion as Henderson was only an assistant with the men before. Mike has had some success on the women's side during his career though. Actually he may have had *more* success with women. Looks like he'll also continue to coach men's cross at least for now.
Women's head coach is a *big* job at CU and if the distance men underperform relative to the women or if it just gets to be too much I could see them hiring a men's distance assistant.
I've met Mike and he seems like a nice guy. He certainly deserves a fair chance to show what he can do. But the situation on East Hill is such that he's going to have to produce pretty much immediately especially on the alumni relations/fundraising end. And this year's recruiting will also be critical although I'm sure Artie Smith had those materials in good shape for his successor.
Cornell is also hosting indoor Heps this year so Mr. Henderson should have a very full plate. Best of luck to him.

So who is headed to Louisville?
Ondrasek is definitely not headed to Stanford. Looks to be putting all his energy into expanding his running camps around the country.
Cleaning or keeping house?
Coach Drake is keeping the sprints coach, he migh keep the jumps and combined events guy and he is not keeping the throws coach. This info is coming from the student athletes.

UNC picks up a sprint coach but who loses one.
Fresno throws- Schutz NAU, Riccio GCU, Weir Webber State? Most likely candidates? Any others?
do we anticipate that programs who suffered last minute departures - West Mich, Drake, Marquette, etc to name permanent replacements in-season or ride things out until next summer with interims?
Difficult to recruit for 2020 if you can't tell recruits who their coach will be
I feel like these schools have made their hires. Just haven’t announced yet. School has basically started all over the country right?
The religious thing is a cover for..we want $
Also, I have to agree...the admin says “we want to grow the roster” but they hire someone that knows nothing about recruiting, and nothing about ncaa recruit regulations! Nothing against the young coach they hired...just facts.
What they meant to say is, “they won’t ask for anything and we can pay them next to nothing because I (the AD) can’t be biter fundraising.
