I think pretty much everyone knows Toledo is a great opportunity. Makes it kind of pathetic that you never placed higher than 21st at NCAA's with everything you mentioned working in your favor.

Iona (Byrne/Santos), Furman (Gary’s), Toledo (Hadsell), Portland (Connor), Providence (Treacy). None in P5 conferences; they have dedicated and knowledgeable coaches. The fact is distance running isnt that expensive, you don’t need state of the art facilities, they are usually good students and don’t get in a ton of trouble. These niche programs do a great job of making the most of limited resources. I often wonder what my college career would’ve been at one of these types of schools instead of being a P5 number?
Furman has a fleet of Alter G treadmills and other resources (check out their social media doting their “testing” this week.).
Most schools/programs do not have this funding. I assume the other top ‘distance only’ programs have the same.

Having a huge number of scholarships help, especially when you put all of them into distance like the schools you listed. Pretty sure all of those schools are fully funded or close to it.

You can clearly hear it resonated in Craig Engels recent interview. Maybe someone can post a link to It for my lazy butt. But basically he said at NC STATE... let me repeat.. NC STATE they run you into the ground there and if you can handle it, keep running... if not then oh well it’s a farm mentality! He made it clear that for someone trying to enjoy the sport and progress naturally, NC STATE is NOT the place to go.

Am I the only one that doesn’t understand snag this person is saying?
Hopefully Stanford has their offers out this weekend. Next week we should know something solid finally.
Expect no distance coach at Oklahoma this year.

Probably no one wants to take a one-year gig. Turned down by small college coaches and others.
Hard to compete for jobs that are not advertised and then appoint a guy with no experience!

Drake has no program
you would think that there would be more support or track and field at Drake given the relays.
Their big homecoming/alumi event each year revolves around track and field
Correct. An absolute meat grinder that runs quality runners into oblivion. Rather than developing them. I have no idea why anyone would sign with them in 2019.
