Why would they let a good coach go if they didn't have an idea of who they want to replace him? WTF.

Radford promotes internally:
Is this what you call failing up ? You go from Jenkins to this guy?
Ralph Lindeman is the mayor of clown town. He couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag

IF this is true, I owe everyone an apology...This is the same old Rutgers.

Of course it is, Mulqueen still there and the new kid is a product of that system. If the AD cared about track like he does about basketball, wrestling and some other sports he would have cleaned house when he got rid of James Robinson and brought in a good coaches who could recruit NJ and the Northeast. But he didnt so they will suffer along in the bottom 2-3 of the BIG10 for awhile longer til he finally makes real changes.
NJ has so much track talent that program should be dripping with kids.

Well, Maryland and Valmon need company at the bottom, Rutgers serves that purpose.
Lol that’s for damn sure. Until Maryland gets rid of Valmon, they will never be anything
OU had two coaches leave (the distance coach that left was paid more than the sprint coach that left). Maybe they will flip that if they plan to become even more sprint-oriented. This could be the explanation if they hire a distance coach with limited experience.

Where did the OU designated female coach go?
How would Coaching have anything to do with getting out of a paper bag? ??

UCSB Darius Terry’s bio shows he is only Interim Head Coach “serving as” director.
I have to ask. And this is coming from a good place as the program was a special part of my life. What makes Darius Terry a qualified candidate for this job? It would seem that he never wrote the programs for their distance team until this past year. So he has one year of coaching experience. Other than bringing Pete Dolan his coffee, what has he done?

Decent runner from ASU, product of Quintana, maybe got his stamp of approval. Didn’t show up at the big meets always chocked so turned to coaching. Not a bad dude actually pretty cool guy but yeah I guess right place right time plus some luck and butt kissing. ?

Darius has very good people skills. He’s no awkward or anything like that. I’m sure during his time at UCSB he’s formed good relationships with the admin. However I can’t say for sure. Positive relationships go a long way especially at a place like UCSB where you won’t get fired for losing and your assistants get paid 30,000/year it an incredibly expensive place to live.
He’s a former D1 national qualifier.
Coached UCSB women’s record holder Hinkle.
He’s African American. Don’t take that the wrong way. That’s not to say he can’t or doesn’t have the potential to coach. It just is what it is. It does count as an advantage these days in diverse promoting California.
I’m sure he’s done way more in his short time. Not sure who he has recruited this year or what his class is like. I think yes he is under qualified with stats and experience but this just proves the points, it’s about who you know, it’s about getting along with admin and other factors that matter in the hiring process that are important to admins. Just look at the other California hires this year.

Man who cares bruh
What he has done is meet the criteria that the employer valued.....whatever that was. Even if he did not meet the criteria YOU valued.
Go get an in person conversation with the decision makers and ask them instead of belittling somewhere on here in a cowardly manner, shining a light on your true character.
Most admins don’t care about track and XC. They would like to win, but they won’t go out of their way to help you do it. So in a sense they don’t have a desire to go after winning. That being said, getting along with admin and not rocking the boat is really important to them. Darius has been there for a couple years, knows the admin, knows the athletes (who like him a lot), and is living the young bachelor lifestyle so he won’t make a fuss anytime soon about the crappy UC pay. It’s perfect for a place like UCSB. Their options are either super young likeable people who are willing to be there with the kind of pay they give, or coaches who are in the twilight of their career that have money saved up to relocate their family there.
