One more thing to the whiners. I knew virtually no one when I started. I wasn't a great athlete. Do the work and STFU.

And in college you have access to weight rooms and an indoor track. Many HS have minimal weight set ups and train in the gym when weather is bad.
There’s a few DI programs with no track at all, much less programs have an indoor facility.
Or you can be pat Mcgregor.

That is part of your problem. Most have to go through a period where they volunteer; but if you are waiting for something within a 100 miles of your current locale you may be waiting forever. You have to be willing to move.
For many, their first full time coaching position will be a small school in a very rural area.
Sounds like you know everyone and you know everything. Thanks for all your wisdom it sure was helpful. Sounds like you are the one whining. I am sure because of all your sacrifices and everything you know you are on the top of the world now. You must be the one getting the Stanford job right?
It looks like a ND job just opened up!

how do u know its open
This isn’t always true. You can get a head coaching or assistant coaching job at some smaller schools if yuh have been a successful HS coach. I coached at the HS level for 9 years and had a lot of success. Was then hired to start the first ever XC and track program at a small NAIA school. Took a pay cut but still made about 40-41k the first year. It’s possible. But it does help if your are a HS coach to network a lot and get to know lots of coaches at the HS and college level.
You are reinforcing the points of the previous posters. You had to start a new program at a NAIA school for gods sake. Listen to yourself. That is the absolute bottom of the cesspool position in college athletics. The NAIA is one step up from the NERF league.
That actually sounds like it would be a great job. Building a college program for a school that doesn't have one. Low expectations and building everything yourself with your staff. Congrats on that position.
Good to know that your ideal and desired situation is one of low expectations. Says a lot about you.
Carlson just moved up. His previous job must be open!

Dad is that you?
GVSU and Rutgers have been open for over a month. Gotta be some word on who they are getting or atleast talking to. Heard GVSU might be defunding throws and going with a jumps coach and volunteer throws coach.

If you read the press release, he just got a title promotion. Sparks is still there but only works with women. Carlson still doing same job, but probably gets a little pay bump and now eligible for head coach bonuses for men’s CC. Plus being “head coach” gives him more cachet when recruiting.
Sadly, ND is one of worst paying major programs out there which is how they wound up with this staff in the first place.
Keep telling yourself that. I’m out!! I’ve got a job to get back to. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
