Fillipek hasn't been with LSSU since track season. Bowman is likely still finishing his grad assistant schooling. If Maverick is already at Iona he's not going to want to go D2.
Decent points. Filipek is just a name to keep in mind as he is a former SV athlete and Rod Cowan is a known fan of him, although I know anyone close to the program hopes the filipeks don't come within 100 miles of Ryder Center. Them being hired would be purely of Cowans doing, and no one else.
As far as Maverick, I don't think he necessarily is writing workouts or anything at Iona, more of an assistant to the distance coach, so this move to a top D2 school would be a move up. Plus, it has been said he was the #2 behind Hartmann for the CMU job. So will he just file in place at Jason's old school? Could be a good move up for him and probably a salary bump.
Andy Bowman is a dark horse, but unlikely as he's still in Grad school i believe, but could be an out-of-the box hire for the program.
I think the likely choice is Winona State's head coach Zach Kughn as mentioned before. He has mid-michigan ties and ties to the program...somewhat. He is an up and coming name in coaching and learned behind multiple great coaches himself, like Mike Scannell. Coach Cowan wants someone who will be 110% invested in the program and this could be the guy.
The other names I'll throw out there for fun are:
Jeremy Wilk of Northwood. Would he move across the street to saginaw?
Former saginaw athlete and Northwood assistant Collin Nuremberg is another name. Another guy like Kughn who is a huge young talent.
Anyone from the Baltes coaching tree. This guy always seems to be producing the next good midwest D2 coaches.
